“Each Night”.
From the scum PMs, in post #67:
“Each Night”.
We do know that for certain:
The mod indicated pregame he was going to do so, and he confirmed it with post #67
Which begins with “I will start the Day as soon as I finish sending out PMs.”
That’s a day start, guys.
As others have pointed out, a day start is very unusual, too. And yes, it does make it so that scum is kind of coming in blindly. But I must be dense, Rin, because I don’t see why that has anything to do with amrussell being more likely to be scum. I’m not trying to be a tool but can you break it down for me a little more clearly? Right now I’m wary of the rush to jump on amrussell.
crap, had a really nice post layed out and my puter ate it. fuck it i’ll be less pc.
i think it is in the best interest of the town that a vig come firing away at get go.
assuming a mislynch toDay the vig will have a 5 in seventeen chance of doing good. about 29 percent. weighting the relative values makes the payoff even larger. with 20 percent of the folks being bad the percentages make a vig killing the way to go. think poker. i may only have a one in five chance of winning the hand but if my payoff is greater than 5 to one then bet the house.
same here. only twenty percent are bad. the vig unweighted is already getting a 9 point swing just on numbers. but when looking at relative weight, using jsex or something, it could be closer to a 20 point premium.
and even if the vig kills town (except the dick) really all that does is shrink the pool for scum to swim in. i’d rather the vig coming firing out early when an unknown townie costs a hell of a lot less than at end game when they become incrementally more valuable.
where has my math gone sideways or upsides down?
Peeker, I would be more interested to know whether you still believe Malahoth- who you’re voting for- is scum.
A day start means that the mafia didn’t have a chance to talk to one another before the game started and plan anything out. As soon as I heard we doing a day start game, I started wondering if scum would attempt to subtly communicate with each other and try to plan within the game. Amrussell has these long posts of ‘advice’ on dealing with scum and powerroles- some of which is actually pretty good advice- and then nestled inside of each are these ambiguous statements that, if I were scum, I would be taking as direction and strategy. I’d like to hear what amrussell has to say about this.
right now it’s pure metagame.
the person who is close second would be ped.
both are former game mods so they know the score. now i also take this with a grain of salt because some of the games can get a little convoluted. but once again, total metagame. ed threw this together pretty durn quick. i haven’t seen him signing up in the off boards to mod a game so i gotta figure that this is pretty niller off the shelf. maha and **pede would know that. rome was not built in a day, yaknow. so maha’s question just didn’t ring right.
same with ped. he seems to finally have come around to admitting that someone blocked will have more information that someone who didn’t do shit. not as much as the blockee would, at least. certainly not as much if the blockee was told the specific reason for why they were blocked. i mean shit, even i give that point up. i want to go back and read the only game where i was scum and ped modded and see how the results of Night actions were communicated. because if it was success/not success then that means one thing. if it was the doc protected your target or you were blocked that will mean something totally different.
Oh. Like breadcrumbing for evil people. Evil crumbing!
I’m willing to give amrussell a chance. Granted, I think the only game I had with him was one where he was town so I don’t have that same experience as you do. When was his last post–was it today or last night? I’m for waiting to give him a chance to come on, read, and explain himself. Though I’m not really sure what he could say. It’s a couple of sentences and he could easily respond with the fact that it’s just meaningless or that he slipped up or whatever.
Would you mind pointing out some specifics as to the nestled ambiguous stuff?
I don’t want to speak for amrussel but it seems clear that
means “if town gets close to the scum roleblocker, it should provoke some sort of [scum] team defense [of the roleblocker], possibly sacrificial”. This seems so obvious that my eye is on Drain Bead, Freudian Slit, and Rin Twisted.
In other news, and this may be a first, I’m unambiguously on peeker’s side: Attempts to make the game more complex than it appears are highly scummy considering how hard the mod has pushed the idea that this is a dead simple game. Freudian Slit has pushed (subtly) in this direction, so as a first first-day vote, vote Freudian Slit works for me.
I don’t see how I’ve made the game more complex by trying to look into all possibilities. I also think the fact that peeker basically baited me into that stupid post about miller lynching was pretty obnoxious and so far one of the scummier moves.
But not pedescribe, who actually voted on that basis?
I’m inclined to regard all confusion stemming from peeker’s posts and responses to them as null tells.
peeker didn’t bait you. You misinterpreted his post. No one else seems to have made that mistake or ‘fallen for the bait’ as it were.
Yeah, pretty much this. unvote amrussell
I knew I was missing a name but I couldn’t find it on scrollback. Yes, eyes on pedescribe, too.
A vote, and then an unvote, all before the player in question even gets a chance to react and respond? Seriously, what was the point?
He said that part about not lynching the miller, I agreed, and he automatically jumped on me for it.
And I don’t get why people are being so defensive of him, and yet so offensive towards me.
So peeker acts like an ass and it’s “just his way”?
I think it’s way too convenient for scum to hide behind, “That’s just how I play” or “That’s just his strategy.” I think it’s weird that you’re so eager to defend him.
I think it’s clear as well, which is why I said
That’s not what I don’t like about it.
Okay, so using the quote we all keep bandying about:
amrussell is saying that is town is closing in on the scum rb, the rest of the scum will leap to save them, maybe even outing themselves.
Now that it’s out there, why would scum do it, knowing we’re looking for it? So, why say it at all? A possible explanation: it’s meant to be direction for other scum. on what to do if the scum rb is in trouble.
