Well peek, here’s my advice. I know you think I’m scummy so you can ignore this until after I’m dead.
Two town kills tonight plus my lynch and it’s game over, scum wins. Town has a huge chance of hitting scum tomorrow. 2-3/5 for tom, alka or peeker. 2-3/4 for everyone else.
I hope that the voting record for today will be examined closely tomorrow. Especially with regards to timing. I think there is something there, but I can’t quite put my finger on it.
Yeah, with 8 hours left in the day, I am not going to fight this too hard. And the only argument that I have other than I forgot (which isn’t provable by either of us until the post-game), is so nitpicky and rules-lawyerish that I shouldn’t even bother.
But it’s all I got left, so I will note that when you originally asked me, you asked me if I had any previous serious suspicions in Tom Scud, to which I replied no. My suspicions of Tom which you called me on, were not serious enough to warrant a vote, although I did ask him the reasoning at that point for his lurk vote. So it is what it is.
To all:
I’m going to be gone this evening, so I’ll miss the dusk. Good Luck Town! And thanks for the great game :D.
Thanks for the compliment while you try to stick a “lynch me” note on my back. The reason that particular play worked out was because it was a 3-handed situation and I had a 50/50 chance of choosing correctly. We are very much not in a 3-handed situation.
Ack, this is frustrating. Whatever I say, those who have already concluded that I’m Scum will consider it further evidence supporting that conclusion (and the real Scum will gleefully help them along in that direction). Normally I wouldn’t care, but if we mislynch toDay and then I’m lynched toMorrow, that’s the game, and I hate losing these things when I get this far in.
But I’m not sure when I said that being wishy-washy (ie, being uncertain of your choices) is scummy or suspicious in itself. There’s context to everything, peeker, as I’d think you’d realize by now (or is hammering two Townies without time for discussion something only Scum would do?). Why wouldn’t I be wishy-washy right now? We have no evidence supporting either lynch here. Either the Scum chose to block you or they didn’t. We have no way of knowing which. If they did, then we’re on the right track. If they didn’t, then we either are or we aren’t. How could I have solid confidence about this situation, unless I were Scum.
So you know what? I might change my vote to Meeko. My feeling is that we’re probably going to have to lynch him eventually, because his playstyle baffles conventional analysis. If someone takes my indecision as Scumminess, well, then, that’s crappy play on your part; for mine, I’m tired of watching every word I type fearful of what might end in my mislynch.
Drain: in that quote, Cookies is backing away from a skeezix lynch, encouraging a Meeko lynch, and sort of sideswipe smudging me. Suppose we lynch skeezix toDay and we’re wrong. Then we lynch Meeko toMorrow and bang, we’re right. A Scum Cookies is in the catbird seat come Dawn of the FOLLOWING Day, because all she has to do is convince one or two Townies - who already have vague insubstantial worries about me - to vote for the guy who put skeezix over the top on the word of the person who favored Meeko.
I’d also happily switch my vote to story at this point, if that is something those willing to vote for Meeko are also willing to do, as well as some of you of the Town persuasion who are voting for Red.
While I think it might be easier to just get Alka or Peeker to reconsider switching, they’ve had plenty of chances and it getting obvious that they are not willing to do so.
But you know what? Hey! If you’re just going to lynch me toMorrow anyway, then I strongly suggest that you do it toDay instead. Seriously. Then we’ll lose our mislynch, but still have a chance to make it work toMorrow.
Whatever. This is dumb, and we’re pretty much hosed, because I’m going to get lynched and it will probably mean the end of the game when I am. I’m going to dinner; see y’all on the other side.
what i was trying to bring up is that you (rightfully so) call people out on wanting it both ways. but yet you want a pass when it’s you doing the same thing.

So again, in less than 100 posts, Tom has gone from thinking Freudian “sure smells scummy” to Freudian “seems more like a Townie playing a poor game than a Scum.” Both opinions are unsubstantiated, vague, tone-based arguments.

specifically, that in his voting post he said nothing of substance and just voted for Freudian. I consider this absolutely relevant.

First of all, my analysis discussed the reasons players gave for their votes when they made the votes. If you actually expect me to catalogue every player’s every word and statement before committing to an analysis, your expectations are extreme. But even still: the “suspicion” at #270 is entirely content-free, and the vote at #298 is almost content-free – as drain herself even acknowledges in the post in question.

This post (#561) is my dictionary definition of content free. No specific examples of anything, waffling (could happen to a Town player), unsubstantiated conclusion (sure does smell scummy. Why, Tom? Why?).

All that said… even if skeezix isn’t the Scum blocker, he could still be Scum…
vote redskeezix
But I reserve the right to change my mind if I get a chance to re-read and something new occurs to me.

Not meaning to be at all. The mistake Town made wrt you in the Civil War game was applying a simplistic metric; hammering twice = scummy. They didn’t consider the context, didn’t consider your role. They just did a simple X=Y thing and lynched you, and it bit them in the butt.
My point is that I don’t "want it both ways - " I just don’t know what to do! I mean, look at the things you’re posting:
If you don’t see a difference between what Tom did - from sure that FS was Scum to sure she was Townie in a short time - and what I’m doing - voting for skeezix but uncertain it’s the right call - then, you know what, lynch me.
Don’t see how this bears any similarity to what I’m doing here.
Ditto. I don’t think I’m making content-free votes, here. I’m explaining my reasoning in detail.
That is a statement of fact. It’s the primary reason that skeezix has my vote right now - because if the Scum tried to block you, then he’s definitely Scum, but if they didn’t, then he still might be.
But it’s all circumstantial and I just don’t know.
Sure would be awful if everyone gave careful consideration to their votes and changed them when and if it seemed appropriate, rather than follow some arbitrary rule that your first vote must be your last vote in order to keep from getting lynched.
I can’t decide whether or not to switch to Meeko. He strikes me as a major problem, in that I was mildly suspicious of his predecessor in this game but since his arrival, he’s been impossible to pin down. Someone has said that we have allowed him to get away with stuff that from anyone else, we’d have lynched them. This is true. I have a major problem with the idea of losing this game having never lynched Meeko, frankly, because if he turns out to be Scum we’re all going to feel pretty dumb.
If I decide to switch, though, fuck it. Take it for whatever you want; I don’t think I can change anyone’s mind about me at this point, anyway.
Town Roleblocker and Vig, please get your Night Actions in to me. The Scum thread is now open.
Night 6 will end when all Night actions are in (or declined) and the Scum are in agreement to start the Day or after 48 hours, at about 8PM CST on Monday, January 18th.

Thank you everyone for an interesting game. Major kudos to the Scum. They stayed under the radar, and, in my opinion, played more Townie than the Townies.
I’m certain if Chronos looked this game over thoroughly, he’d throw out his program, as the scum were more likely to vote for other Scum than they were to vote for Town
