I hope it doesn’t matter that I usually only play in the evenings.
Here goes nothing.

I don’t think it matters. I’m in a very different time zone to most of you guys, but the rounds still seem to progress pretty quickly. We need one more player for the Cairns game- I’ve only ever played Classic or World 2.1 maps before, so wish me luck (or wish me a swift demise… hehe).
I’ve just joined the Classic game you started, Danalan. Good luck guys!
Let me know if there’s any other maps you’d like to play, or types of games. We could do doubles – that would be pretty fun, or play assassin. I’ll start whatever you want.
i don’t like the Realm boards, or the war reenactment boards. I like all the straightfoward country (or mock country, like CCU or Congress, or individual cities) boards, with no hidden agendas
I’ll list you my favorites later when I have a change to examine them all
What’s up with everyone starting out with 3 armies all spread out? Why can’t we play it the traditional way and choose where to place our armies?
no, Conquer Club is not set up that way - it would take to long just to set up the board, especially with the larger maps, with each turn being allowed 24 hours
Yeah so a game takes a few extra days… I think it’s worth it. I mean Risk is supposed to simulate global war, and in Conquer Club it’s like the armies all fell randomly out of the sky.
while i agree that the choice should be left as an option for players, ime it simply means you skip the initial mad scramble for continents and goes straight to continent sitting instead.
“continent sitting”?
okay, Danalan, these are my favorites:
Classic, Africa, Arctic, Asia, Australia, Brazil, British Isles, Cairn’s Coast, Canada, CCU, France, Germany, Great Lakes, Greater CHina, Hong Kong, Iberia, Mongol Empire, Montreal, North America, NYC, Puget Sound, San Francisco, Soviet Union, USA, US Senate
eta
and World 2.0
i mean like when the dust has settled and most everyone has a continent.
oh and i share the sentiment on the Realm boards btw. i didn’t try 2 and 3, but the first one is so frenetic. the games end faster than escalating cards on that map…
anyrose, is that a request to start a game for all of those boards?
Let’s narrow the list down some – how about Australia, Great Lakes, and US Senate to start with. What options should we pick?
I don’t particularly like escalating, but I’m open to anything. Let me know.
For now how about a Freestyle US Senate assassin game, with flat rate cards, no FOW, and Chained fortifications? 5 players, room for 4 more after me:
Game 2698382
PW: SDMB
as a rule - I prefer
Sequential Play
Flat Rate Cards
Unlimited Fortification
I haven’t played an assasin game in a while - last one I played I screwed up. I have to reread that segment of the rules
I prefer sequential, chained, unlimited fortification. Just like Hasbro wanted it.
i prefer:
6-8 players
standard/terminator
sequential
flat rate
adjacent
most maps that are clear and nicely drawn
variants i dislike:
assassin (too random, impossible to control map)
no cards
fog of war
maps that are tiny or too dark (i like classic but it really is too dark)
/nitpick
and no, Autolycus, this is the official Hasbro rules for the classic game:
standard
sequential
escalating
adjacent
I prefer:
Sequential turns
Flat Rate cards
Unlimited fortifications
Fog of War - No
I’ve never played assassin, terminator, or even teams for that matter.
I do know that I won’t be joining any Freestyle games anytime soon. I’m just finishing up a Fog of War Freestyle game on the CCU map. (It’s your turn Autolycus!)
Twice in that game I knew that I’d be in a much better position if I could take my turn before the person I wanted to attack could take their turn. Especially in a FOW game. One turn could greatly complicate figuring out where your enemy is and where to deploy your armies. As a result, I ended up hovering at the site, constantly checking when the next round started.
It worked in both cases. Sorry anyrose, sorry Danalan, but you’ve both got a better position in our current games. I’ll go down fighting but I’ll get my ass kicked soon.
Australia, Standard, Sequential, Flat Rate, Unlimited, No FOW, 4 players:
Game 2709402
PW: SDMB
Great Lakes, Standard, Sequential, Flat Rate, Unlimited, No FOW, 6 players:
Game 2709415
PW: SDMB
Still need one more player for our US Senate Assassin game: 2698382.
Anybody?
I joined. How do assassin games work?
