“Goober” Gowdy is the one that looks like Anderson Cooper’s evil twin.
Comey was being villified just a few short hours ago, remember Hillary blames him for losing the election. Didn’t Sen. Schumer call for his resignation/firing in November? But that was then, this is now. Some crapweasel on the TV was saying this is “unprecedented”, which I guess would be true, if you don’t count Pres. Clinton firing the FBI director.
Nixon fired Archibald Cox, a special prosecutor who was demanding the oval office recordings or somesuch.
If you really want to compare it to Watergate, an interesting historical footnote, Hillary herself was fired from Sam Ervin’s Watergate committee, ostensibly for lying and mishandling documents. Ole Sam was a staunch Republican so…
It’s nothing like the firing of the Watergate prosecutor, but it’s still unacceptable and Trump’s reasons for it are complete BS.
She’s a witch?
Repeat after me. “Trump is doomed”.

"BREAKING: CNN Exclusive: Subpoenas issued in FBI’s Russia investigation. Amazing timing.
Moreover,Sam Ervin was a Democrat.
The memo also says that Comey should not have included derogatory information/opinions in his press conference about Clinton. Except Trump celebrated in his rallies when Comey made his remarks, openly supported then AG Lynch’s position to accept Comey’s recommendation, regardless of what it was after the infamous tarmac meeting incident, and has seemed to mostly support Comey since taking office. The DOJ memo just seems to be so much pretext.
If Trump was so outraged at the the actions of Comey that are cited in the DOJ memo, he probably wouldn’t have celebrated many of them while campaigning and would have fired Comey upon taking office.
The probability that this has anything to do with Clinton’s emails, considering Trump’s effusive praise, and the fact that it has been months without doing anything, is roughly zero percent.

Lood sing goddam!
Especially interesting - that’s about the time that Sessions was reportedly instructed to find a reason to fire Comey.
Ezra…? Is that you?
Not totally off base but a few distictions can be made. Nixon wanted his attorney general to fire the special prosecutor that was investigating him. The attorney general refused and got fired. his deputy attorney general was promoted to acting attorney general and was ordered to fire the special prosecutor and he also refused, etc. Those attorney generals got fired for refusing the lawful order of the President of the United States.
Comey got fired for political reasons.
But what was Nixon’s official reason for wanting the special prosecutor to be fired? Doesn’t he need cause? Or is that reserved for those who serve at the pleasure of the President?
So now they can re-open EmailGate! Trump’s base will love it. Much better than some lame stuff about Russia.
Yeah, we basically have three contradictory things coming out of the Administration:
(1) The Deputy A.G.'s memo, which spends most of its time discussing ways in which Comey was unfair to Clinton (derogatory info & the October Surprise) and only rather tersely mentions his decision not to prosecute her.
(2) Trump’s bizarre letter firing Comey in which he just can’t help himself from bringing up the Russian influence investigation.
(3) Trump’s recent twitter storm in which he claimed that Comey helped her.
I don’t envy Sean Spicer to try to make sense out of all these contradictory messages they are sending!
woosh!
