You know this whole, “Trump sows confusion among the American people and the world at large as a strategy”, reminds me of this scene.

He’s just a liar. And not an effective one at that. He makes shit up without thinking of what the consequences of his lies are going to be, and then gets people to play cover for him.
This is why the parties have a hard time getting along. We have the democrats trying to run the country, and we got your buddy trump just lying his ass off ever chance he can get, not caring what damage it may do, and then we have people like you who are willing to defend him no matter what he does.
How can there be any sort of communication or compromise when your side is just full of lies? It used to be that people were ashamed of lying, and tried to not get caught. It used to be that when they were caught, even their supporters would feel shame that their guy got caught lying.
We are in a new paradigm, where you are actually proud of the fact that the person you chose to represent you is a pathological liar. There is no longer even the concept of shame among your ranks, is there?

You are correct. Of course, you’re dealing with a great many people who are actually thrilled that Trump is destroying the country and it’s institutions. Whether they are from hostile foreign nations, or are Americans who simply want to watch the country burn while they chuckle, there are a substantial number of them on the interwebs.
Everybody’s missing out on another key component of this “revelation”. He had to stick in this bullshit about, with all the “recently reported electronic surveillance, intercepts, unmasking and illegal leaking of information,” as some sort of half-assed cover for his bullshit. Just like he had to insert his little, “I appreciate you telling me three times I wasn’t under investigation,” in the Comey firing letter. Neither has a fucking thing to do with the subject at hand … it’s just his bullshit cover.
“Oh, I just said there better not be tapes because, garsh, who knows what deep state leak is being unmasked,” … or whatever drivel floats through the cotton candy of his mind.
The only part of my prediction that hasn’t come through yet is his claiming it’s all “fake news.” I still haven’t given up hope on that one.

Who knows if there are tapes or not. I wouldn’t believe Trump no matter what he said. He almost certainly was trying to rattle Comey into admitting some doubt about what was said. If there were tapes, Comey was probably right, and Trump would want us to think here were none. After he did his silly little feint, though. BS from the BS in Chief. But now he’s got folks talking about this as if it were of any import.
