Comey Memo: Trump Told Him - Shut Down Flynn Probe

You can pretty safely assume that Trump is only concerned with his own ego and enrichment in any arena.

Christ. Are his detractors not also Americans? Do you think that the house and senate, who requested said tapes - no, sorry, ’ tapes’ - are not part of the country he is supposed to be leading? Are you taking such glee in his trolling that it doesn’t even occur to you this is damaging not only his detractors but ALL of us?

I disagree that it is “damaging ALL of us”. I don’t see any damage to me or my friends. I can’t really see any damage for you, unless it’s emotional - and you are one of his detractors.

So you are fine with the president lying to Americans, as long as some don’t believe the lie?

There was no lie. Trump didn’t say he had the “tapes”, did he?

And yes, i am one of his detractors. And I feel that lying to the American public is a problem, even if some of his true believers realize he is lying.

You see, it’s the lie that is the problem. Not whether or not some or all or none believe. It’s the fucking lie that’s the problem.

Ok. With the “tapes” - can you point out the lie? Can you quote the statement that was “the lie”? I mean, you’re so worked up about it, surely you can do that.

Fine. Replace lie with troll. Either way, it is dishonesty perpetuated upon the American public.

It is a troll “perpetuated” on his detractors. His supporters didn’t care about it. And definitely did not get “damaged” by it. Neither have his detractors, really, unless you count running around like chickens with heads cut off for 40 days about nothing as “damage”. Oh and daydreaming about the “tapes” being Trump’s doom. LOL.

So, you didn’t believe it, because you were too smart to fall for it? He was just saying that to jerk the libtard’s chains? Well, OK. Then, maybe that stuff about throwing crippled kids off Medicaid, he doesn’t mean that either? (Actually, that might be kinda good.) Or that stuff about having a perfectly adequate dick, maybe what he meant was he has a winkie all shriveled like one for a steroid abuser after a really cold shower?

You could help some folks out, let them know about your special insight. Is it the quote marks? So when he talks about “Lyin’ Hillary”, he means she’s the Goddess of Truth?

This stuff is kinda complicated, good you’re here to explain it.

It must be nice to be proven to be just as much as a six-year-old as one’s hero.

Do you have any problem with Trump’s many other lies, or do you not believe that Trump ever lies?

To insinuate that something might be true when you know full well that it isn’t is indistinguishable from a lie.

I wouldn’t lose any sleep over the harm Republicans cause to the lives of their supporters if I were you.

What do you think happens when… and I know this is a longshot… but Trump decides to stand up to China, North Korea, or Russia, where credible threats of action actually matter? Foreign leaders will be tempted to see a real threat as just another amateur-hour ruse. Before you dismiss that as speculation, consider, he’s already folded his previous bluffs on China, going from “they’d better do something about NK” to “oh well, I guess they tried!”

It’s projection. It’s the thief who’s most afraid of having something stolen and the murderer that someone will try to kill him. Deep down in his heart of hearts, Trump is most afraid that people will know clearly what went on during one of his “negotiations” and so figures Comey must feel the same.

One possibility: he is so far detached from reality that his memory of any particular incident is whatever he wants it to be. He may well remember Comey saying “Oh my God, there is no way that anyone could ever suspect YOU of anything! You are the absolute best person to ever walk the earth since Jesus- no check that- you’re even better than Jesus!”

Well, in today’s example of Trump shooting himself in the dick, he lets us in on the reason for the “tapes” comment, which was to affect Comey’s testimony, and also reassuringly “wasn’t very stupid”:

*When the Fox interviewer suggested that the possible existence of recordings might make sure Mr. Comey “stayed honest in those hearings,” Mr. Trump paused before responding, “Well, it wasn’t very stupid, I can tell you that.”

Referring to Mr. Comey, the president said that “when he found out that I, you know, that there may be tapes out there whether it’s governmental tapes or anything else and who knows, I think his story may have changed.”*

It’s not much of a defense to say “but it’s a terrible bluff”. As a politician, Trump is an incompetent bluffer, and this is just part of an ongoing pattern.

From what we know about Trump, it is likely as simple as:
[ul]
[li]Trump never remembers what Trump says.[/li][li]Trump doesn’t know or care what words might get him in trouble[/li][li]Trump wanted to lash out at Comey for posing a threat[/li][li]Trump has a history of bullying people with taped conversations.[/li][/ul]
So you can see how a lousy amateur bluff might seem like a “strategy”.

So, Comey’s testimony was the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, thanks to Trump’s brilliant stratagem of positing the possible existence of “tapes”. Good move, Don! (And we can ignore all those post-testimony rants that said Comey was lying.)
