How wonderful! Now I have a very good reason to start the day out with a smile!
I just signed my divorce papers yesterday, ending a twenty-year marriage. I hope I will eventually be as blessed as the two of you, and find my own wonderful partner-for-life.
May you have very, very many loving and happy years together.
On a completely unrelated note, Persephone, the first time I encountered your name was in English class, ninth grade (circa 1984). We were taking turns reading aloud from either a Greek tragedy or something from Shakespeare (can’t remember which) and a fellow student pronounced it “Percy-phone.” Later, he pronounced Antigone “Aunty-gone.” Poor kid. Anyway, just thought you might find that amusing. I think of that day whenever I see your name.
Congratulations, and may your lives together become what you could have only wished they would be. I left a failing long-term relationship for a wonderful man, and we’ve been together for a decade now; he’s far more than I deserve in this world.
Woo! Congrats. And welcome to Rhode Island (soon), Pers! Don’t believe that tomndeb character, the Bay is not grey and hazy! I can see it from my window at work right now.
Pers, you hussy! You stole the gallant Euty from right under my nose when I wasn’t looking (or trying-- but that’s besides the point). You with your kind ways and lovely face.
