Where did you get the idea that mods are confined only to their “official” forums?
SwissMiss?
Don’t tempt me use my L33T powers to go change your username to Twinkletoes!
hums a few bars of "It’s Like You Never Left"
No. Moderator A from forum X is allowed to go into forum Y and set board policy.
It’s not even like he’s setting it. The “no screwing around with usernames” is not new.
Because he’s the only one who throws a pissy fit about it. Squeaky wheel gets the grease.
Um, I was told there would be no math in the Pit.
Welcome back, Lib. Hell of a re-entrance.
E.
If moderator A leaves forum Y westbound at 37 mph, and moderator B leaves forum Z eastbound at 29 mph, how long will it take for Liberal to hit the “Report this Post” button?
I brought up the issue because it was already resolved in a particular way, earlier. Several posters originally made it a habit to refer to Liberal as Libertarian after he explicitly asked them to stop. One persisted to the point where he was warned for the activity–a warning that figured in his later banning.
I am not out to spoil anyone’s fun,, but since this particular issue has already been hashed over with a particular resolution, I figured it was better to remind folks of it now before it became a bigger issue.
If I follow correctly, what tomndeb is cautioning folks about specifically is calling Liberal by his former board name, not shortening his name. Shortening up folk’s names is done frequently, and I’ve not seen it get a warning (unless of course, the shortening was done as an insult)
anyhow Lib glad you had a productive month.
well shit. thanks a lot deb
I keed, I keed.
I did not realize the “no modifying usernames to mock” applied in the Pit.
Thanks for the clarification.
Regards,
Shoehorn
Up til now, I hadn’t really seen it happening except in a pile on when one forum’s moderator has already taken action and other moderators chime in pretty much after the fact.
Evidentally.
I’m all for compromise. Why don’t we try the use of an epithet along with his unabbreviated Username? I suggest Liberal (the Troublesome Rollicking Overbearing Litigious Libertarian) or perhaps Liberal (the Largely Incessant Bitching Egomanic Really Talented At Regaling Irksome Autocratic Notions.) Shorten these at your posting peril.
How about instead we mock and attack his ideas and actions instead of his name? Is it really so hard to find legitimate things to critcize that you have to make fun of his name second-grader style?
False dichotomy!
FINE. Have a rational discussion using logic to unseat his opinions and ill-considered beliefs! See if I care!
That one had decided that Lib must have been hiding something or else wouldn’t have requested the change. The warning was at least in part to get him to knock off the accusations.
When my name change went through, I jokingly asked that it be kept quiet lest the same Doper accuse me of trying to hide something as well.
well yea. especially since one could have simply referred to him by “Lib” vs. the entire name. It actually took more work to type out his former name.
I’ve personally never found the need to change my user name here, but I can certainly understand why anyone would be irritated when they’re referred to by a former name. Would you have a difficult time understanding the irritation if some one called Kareem Abdul Jabar “Lew”? Or some newly married woman by her maiden name (if she changed it)?
Calling someone by a name they don’t like is a deliberate dig, a tactic I’ve used plenty of times in the Pit.
… son.
No, I really thought that tom forgot. I was wrong. Ah well.
Btw, I went to the store to buy some pie. I ordered pecan, but what I got tastes like crow.
