Personally, though, I think it’d be neat for our paranoid drama queen to post the stuff that he has “on disk” about the conspiracy to git him…which is funny when it comes down to it, since I’m sure if they really wanted to an admin could login as him, post something obviously bannable, and then ban his account.
But maybe the mods and admins are just morons and can’t work their board that well. That must be it. Because Liberal being a paranoid bitch is far less likely.

IMHO, if they rejected any and all screen names requests to begin with, none of this would be an issue. A search of any pre-SN-modification posts where the user is mentioned by name, it’s (obviously) the original version of the moniker that displays. The alibi for anyone who get smacked own making a reference to an old screen name is, ‘sorry, I was reading an old thread and must’ve gotten confused.’

actually I recall it being made more of a point with a couple of other posters who’d elected to have a name change after garnering a good bit of negative attention and trying to make a new begining and not have their past constantly thrown up at them. IDBB was one (I will, of course, grant that the change to MHM didn’t really help).
Changing their screen name was an attempt at a clean slate, and constant reminders from other posters of the old screen name made that attempt all the more difficult. so, from my own recollection, 'twasn’t a “Lib” inspired rule at all.

Apropos of freakin’ nothin’, I sure wish Quasimodem would come back from his self-imposed ban. I’d much rather be reading his leaps of logic than Liberal’s. They’re slightly more sensible so makes my brain hurt less.

Posters shorten, nickname and otherwise mangle screennames a lot, which you may notice when you wipe the spittle off your screen. Big whoop. We aren’t the name police.
The only circumstance that causes problems is when former screennames are used. The problem is causes for other posters, especially newer folks who aren’t savvy to name changes throughout the board’s history and probably don’t care.
If you want to continue a fight with somebody, knock yourself out. Just do by the person’s current name.
