Commercials you actually liked (found amusing etc.)

I always liked this one, before it was decided that the idea of married couples having sex was too risque for television.

I always like the commercials that Outpost.com had. Here’s one of my favorites:

Outpost.com - Gerbils
LilShieste

My son and I saw a new beer ad during a baseball game today. Two guys reach for the last beer in the cooler. They agree to rock, paper, scissors. They count to three and one guy hits the other guy in the head with something. From the ground, the guy wearily says “I threw paper”, the other guy grabs the beer and walks away, saying, “Well, I threw a rock.” My eleven year old boy thought that was hilarious!!

This one for Subway. Totally cracked me up!

Heh. Badonkadonk butt.

But did he fight aliens? Cause I don’t see how the commerical could be any good if he didn’t fight aliens.

Can anyone help me find a video of this one?

It must have been out 10+ years ago, an ad for cat food with a small green parrot speaking in a French accent, and the whole point of it was that the cat food was so good, cats would ignore “an exquisite morsel such as myself.”

I love that ad.

The original Joe Isuzu ad is Great, and unlike the others. Throughout you have Joe making thee outrageous claims (contradi9cted by the small print captions at the bottom of the screen), but the payoff is the last pair of subtitles:

Joe: It’ll run forever on a tank of gas

Subtitle: Your mileage may vary.

Joe: … and you can buy it with your pocket change!
Subtitle: Provided you have $9,990 in quarters and nickels.

Of, course, we have to mention the two classic Stan Freberg commercials. Now, through the wonder of YouTube, I can link to it, instead of providing an inadequate description:
1.) Jeno’s Pizza Rolls:

The commercial is a parody of the 1960s “Show us Your Lark Pack” commercial by Lark Cigarettes (wghich isn’t around anymore). That really is Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels at the end.

2.) Anne Miller for “Great American Soups”. Which doesn’t seem to be on You Tube. Sniff.

Speaking of cute animals, my current favorite commercial is one for Armstrong flooring. I usually catch it while watching all the home shows on TLC.

There’s a family sitting all together before the TV watching a horror movie. They show a scene from the movie (a howling werewolf) then cut to the family’s dear little puppy (Boston bulldog, I think) who is so frightened he piddles on the floor and runs away. The look on that baby dog’s face just makes me “Aww!” right out loud.

Armstrong flooring has another decent one: A woman is cleaning out the fridge. Just as she picks up the take-out container, her husband says, “Honey, that Chinese is no good.” She sniffs it and splat! passes out dead on the floor. Her husband looks mildly surprised and comes over to take a whiff for himself…splat! passes out dead on the floor.

I think the tagline for these commercials is “Handling the unexpected.”

ROY!
ROY ROY ROY!

bahahaha

I had completely forgotten about that one. Thanks for the link!

Taco Bell had one recently - two lions and a camping family. The two lions talking to each other is just hysterical! “Do I look fierce?” That had my husband and I in stitches. There’s another one where one lion is trying to teach the other one to say carne asada - it’s hard to explain - it’s just funnier than hell too.

Reminds me of a Jack in the Box (all JitB commercials are excellent, btw), where Jack is in Mexico, being introduced to chipotle sauce by a Mexican woman, and has trouble with the word.

Jack:…“chopatipple?” with his mouth changed from its usual big smile, to an erratic squiggle.
Woman: “Just go.”

To this day, my family pronounces “chipotle” as “choppatipple”.

Here ya go: Carne Asada

Adding another voice to the chorus of Mac/PC ads, and also: am I going slowly insane, or is there an ad where Mac is the one who gets sent up?

HARLEY DAVIDSON: RESPECT

CAT HERDERS

I liked a lot of the Snickers ads, but this one was definitely my favorite!

Jack in the Box:

The Stoner

The Intern (I took a lot of flack for this as a native Philadelphian)

The Doctor

The Cheerleader (really bad copy)

None of the ‘Carnivores’ commercials making fun of the XFL seem to be available. “The monkeys gave 110%, Susan!”

The insurance commercial where a hospital patient is being evaluated by his doctor (while unconscious):

“Administered a light sedative. He should be able to go home this afternoon.”

Meanwhile, his wife and daughter are coming up the elevator with a “Get Well” balloon. Mom says “Dad’ll love to see the both of us.”

Back in the hospital room, a fly is buzzing around, and the other doctor grabs a defibrillator and bug zaps the fly with one of the paddles. He then looks down at the dead fly (which landed on the father’s stomach) and says, “Yup, that killed 'em.”

Camera cuts to the mother and child who have just walked in, seeing a doctor with a defibrillator say “Yup, that killed 'em.”

Hilarious.

Whoever does the ads for Emerald Nuts is very gifted. See, for example, this year’s Super Bowl commercial featuring Robert Goulet.
