Community 10/13/11

Not only a bottle episode, but an episode where some segments of video could be reused multiple times for even greater savings.

Two.

As mentioned, I think the pot probably played a role. But I also think it’s notable that Annie commented up front how horrible the pizza guy was – points out a bit of the differences in their tastes.

Anyone else notice that despite Britta being “The ruiner,” there was a big long awkward silence once she left?

Oh man, I missed that, and now I get free next-day giggles!

This episode was definitely streets ahead. Good thing, because the rest of this season this far has been a bit disappointing.

As best as I can make out…

Which also explains the bit about Chevy Chase’s Eartha Kitt comment last week.

And, “IT FEELS LIKE FUN!”

Oh, yes. Troy’s Levar Burton freakout is the highlight of the series for me.

Is Annie moving in with Troy and Abed now?

I don’t think so. I thought she gave them a wtf look when asked.

Nose Goes. Last one to touch their finger to their nose has to do the errand.

Another “what-if” was done on Malcolm in the Middle, where in one timeline Lois took the boys bowling and Hal did it in the other. I found both MITM and Community had a similar, sadistic sense of humor about it that made both the episodes awesome.

One funny bit I don’t think anyone mentioned was how Jeff bonked his head on the ceiling fan every time he got up, which cracked me up, as I’ve seen people do that so often.

I was by myself watching it today and I was trying not to laugh aloud, but I couldn’t stop. Troy’s turn to get the pizza was just my favorite thing I’ve seen on tv this week, and maybe this season so far.

Gillian Jacobs is really awesome in this episode. I crack up every time she goes into the “Me so hungee!” pizza celebration dance.

And when Abed catches the die and is explaining why they shouldn’t use it:

**Abed: “…on the raft of life. A raft held together by those few rare, beautiful things that we know to be predictable.”

Britta (confused): “Ropes? Vines. Vines? Let him finish!”**

The way she turns to the rest of the group and exclaims “Let him finish!”–when she was the one interrupting him–is hilarious.

Great episode. For me, this episode reminded me immediately of Groundhog Day, with the same sequence of events occurring, but slightly altered in each iteration, and ending with different results. The doorbell buzzer is just like the alarm clock that wakes up Bill Murray and sets off the next iteration in GD. Since GD is one my all-time favorite movies, this Community episode has climbed all the way to the top as my favorite one so far. I think what made the episode particularly enjoyable was that each toss of the die resulted in really unpredictable outcomes. The other message that the episode left me was that Jeff is indeed the “bad element” in the group. It was only when he wasn’t around to stop Britta from launching into Roxanne that the group all got along.

It’s kind of funny. Jeff started out selfish and narcissistic, started getting better, and now he’s regressing somewhat.

Well, what do you expect from a guy who keeps his toiletries in a safe?

I just caught this one on Hulu, and thought it was fantastic. I don’t usually laugh out loud while watching TV by myself, even when the show is pretty funny, but I during the Troy timeline when he came back into the apartment and saw the evil troll doll. The stinger set in the dark universe was also brilliant.

I’m thinking maybe the pizza guy made some weird pass at any reasonably attractive woman he encountered, and that it repulsed Annie but worked on (high) Britta. Something like telling the woman he’s sure she’s his soulmate.

Which timeline will the rest of the series be set in? I’m guessing it is the first where Annie gets the pizza.

They made it clear that the one where Abed catches the coin and Jeff went to get the pizza is the real timeline. Or rather the one we’ll be following.

Until Evil Troy and Evil Abed find a way to break through.

Muh-ha-ha-ha!!!
