I think it was organic. The early episodes featured a lot of Jeff-Brita interactions (Jeff’s trying to hook up with Brita), Annie-Troy interactions (Annie’s harboring a high-school crush on Troy) and Pierce-Shirley interactions (Pierce’s finding new and ever-more-offensive ways to comment on race), with Abed as a sort of aloof meta-commentator. The character interactions have definitely shifted since then.
I hope the evil timeline will somehow tie into the alternate Earth scenario in the model UN episode. The science checks out.
This. Remember Troy was originally the High School superjock who was expecting to get by on his football skills until a knee injury ended any chance of playing again. The more ‘man-child’ Troy has evolved due to the wonderful interaction between Pudi and Glover in their respective characters.
Whoo hoo! I nailed it!
crickets
Impossible. The mirror universe episodes of Enterprise had special opening credits that showed that the split from the regular timeline was far earlier than 2011.</abed>
Hell YES…cant wait for that!!!
Does Brita have a history with weed that I’m not remembering?
I don’t remember that either. It’s probably her trying to be a rebel.
There’s an upcoming episode entitled “Advanced Gay”. I’m going to guess that one is dean-centric, but who knows.
Watched it for the second time and realized that the “real” timeline is more than a happy sitcom ending. The group only got along and had a good time together when Jeff was gone. Fasten your seatbelts. It’s going to be a bumpy ride.
Yep, we’ve commented on that above.
One thing bothered me slightly - when the door to Troy and Abed’s new (imaginary?) apartment first opened, it’s number 303. This was episode 4 of season 3. Would it have been too much to make this tiny reference (i.e. have 304 as the door number)?
Watched it again and got a kick out of the different ways Jeff said he needed a drink just before standing and getting whacked by the fan.
Couple things I’m wondering about…
-
What was with Brita’s comment when she first saw the rolling rock thing? Something like “Sexy. Cool. Sexy cool!” To which Annie responded “You’re trying too hard”.
-
Abed was the only oine who asked for money before he went to get the pizza. Apparently everyone else used their own. Does Abed have a history of being thrifty?
-
… still wondering about Brita and weed???
As has been noted above, they did it intentionally because the episode was originally scheduled for the earlier slot.
There’s nothing sexy or cool about building a model like that. Brita was tryig to be nice and badly overdoing it.
No, but he’s very practical.
I think there’s been a couple of vague references, but come on, are you surprised she smokes pot? It fits the character pretty well.
How come no new NBC Thursday comedy episodes this week? Was there a special event of some kind?
One poster already mentioned the last episode, when Brita burnt a list of popularity rankings of the group, Shirley, (I think it was her), said; “she’s using her marijuana lighter.”
World Series is going on, so they probably didn’t want to compete with it. Plus, in most markets the November sweeps is what’s important so they will often run repeats in weeks before and after the sweeps book starts (which I believe is next Thursday (The Nielsen sweeps weeks run on a weird schedule with a Thursday start date and a Weds end date).
Technically, that was supposed to be a callback to last weeks episode. The episodes were shown slightly out of order.

There was also the “My Dinner With Andre” episode where he invites Jeff to dinner in the expensive restaurant and then passes him the check.
