Pierce is rich. We just watched the season 1 episode where his stepdaughter comes to visit him at college. She’s a grifter, who pretends to like him in exchange for his giving her money. He gave her a cheque for $25,000, and when Jeff tried to tell him what she was doing, he said he already knew, but it was worth it to him. The attitude he displayed suggested that it really wasn’t a lot of money to him.

Troy is a Jehovah’s Witness, right? So he won’t celebrate his own birthday.

Yep- continuity, something this show is better about than most sitcoms.

That’s right. I’d forgotten about that. He doesn’t seem very devote, though. He celebrated Halloween with the rest of the crew and he hurt his back doing a keg stand in high school. Maybe they can address this with the birthday episode? Or maybe they’ll just gloss over it like they’ve been doing so far. Good memory!

Was there an episode that said why Troy moved in with Pierce? Obviously it’s because he needed a place to stay, but I didn’t realize he was living with him until the “Old White Man Says” episode at the beginning of this season and then the one where Pierce’s mother [del]died[/del] evolved into plasma. I was wondering if it was mentioned in an episode.

It was the last episode of Season 1. Troy’s dad wanted him to move out. Troy expected Abed to invite him to be his roommate, but Abed thought it would change their relationship. Troy was happy when Pierce invited him to live in his mansion, but not so happy when he said he should come over to be fitted for his uniform.

In the comparitiive religions episode, didn’t he say something like, “Jehovah Witnesses aren’t allowed to drink, but it helps.”

On re-watch I finally understood what was going on with Pierce. When he was reading drug side effects he listed loss of Octopus. After that he basically has jibberish responses throughout the episode. Ha!

Yup. The first side effect was dysphasia, and the second was loss of octopus
