Community 11/4 (open spoilers)

I guess I’m in the minority in that I thought this one was really pretty funny. The trampoline storyline wasn’t all that funny at first (I, too, thought it seemed vaguely familiar and was wondering what they were referencing), but when they made the “reveal” of Joshua’s racism, I was howling with laughter.

“Whoa, that came out of nowhere!”
“Did it?”
(flashback to Joshua saying the trampoline was a refuge from the “darkness” and Joshua saying (while eyeing Troy) that some people were naturally good jumpers. And then “It’s going to be a maze!”

Oh man, that killed me.
The Mean Girls story was predictable, but Abed made it worthwhile–loved his putdowns and his Robocop/Terminator visuals.

Uh, I think you mean Rowboatcop.

I’m with you. Some people are just bad at watching television.

I also liked the fake-out at the beginning re: the women’s studies class. Instead of a battle of the sexes episode, they went for mean girls instead.

Actually, I caught the “naturally good jumpers” line when it was first used and laughed at it. But the joke about the swastika pales in comparison to how they used it in Pictionary last year.

It won’t stop until they take “windmill” out of Pictionary.

Another favorite moment from this episode was Pierce with the web cam data: “Enhance! Enhance! ENHANCE! There we go…”.

I also liked that even in his Lotus Eater relaxation and contentment Jeff still closed the doors on Señor Chang.

I loved the bit with Troy crying when Pierce forced him to get on the trampoline with him.

Community episodes are on Hulu.com for a few weeks after they air, if you have a decent internet connection.

People already summarized my favorite bits, but I thought it was a pretty funny episode, more so for the trampoline then the Mean Girls bit.

I watch Community, but I never quite loved it. I think Thursday’s episode was my favorite and I laughed out loud a lot. Even the expected jokes were still funny and there was still stuff that came out of nowhere. It wasn’t completely unbelievable or fantasy or zombies, so I kinda liked that it was semi-realistic, but just this one time. I don’t need it every week. I think it worked well with all the storylines. I think my favorite line was when Annie called the guys “knuckle walker.”

Anybody with better video resolution catch the signs during the “Troy & Abed in the Morning”? The only one I could make out was “Dump Troy Marry Me!”

“My name’s Alex.”

End was the highlight of the show for me.

Chang had a spit take, too. That’s comedy gold!

I almost feel sorry for [del]Starburns[/del] Alex. I didn’t notice - has he shaved? And once again, more evidence for my theory that Abid is aware that he is just a character on a sit-com.

I finally caught up on this one last night. I enjoyed the ep pretty well.

I liked seeing Andy Dick as the little pilot. He’s crazy and bizarre, but from some interviews I’ve heard with him on various podcasts I listen to - he’s pretty aware of how crazy and bizarre he is, and rather self-deprecating about all of his problems which makes me enjoy him more.

Only thing I really hated in this one was Chang’s reaction shots. Most of them were so obviously filmed separately from the rest of the cast that it was distracting. Unless that was the point, in which case I just didn’t like the joke they were going for I guess.
