I guess I’m in the minority in that I thought this one was really pretty funny. The trampoline storyline wasn’t all that funny at first (I, too, thought it seemed vaguely familiar and was wondering what they were referencing), but when they made the “reveal” of Joshua’s racism, I was howling with laughter.
“Whoa, that came out of nowhere!”
“Did it?”
(flashback to Joshua saying the trampoline was a refuge from the “darkness” and Joshua saying (while eyeing Troy) that some people were naturally good jumpers. And then “It’s going to be a maze!”
Oh man, that killed me.
The Mean Girls story was predictable, but Abed made it worthwhile–loved his putdowns and his Robocop/Terminator visuals.
Actually, I caught the “naturally good jumpers” line when it was first used and laughed at it. But the joke about the swastika pales in comparison to how they used it in Pictionary last year.
I watch Community, but I never quite loved it. I think Thursday’s episode was my favorite and I laughed out loud a lot. Even the expected jokes were still funny and there was still stuff that came out of nowhere. It wasn’t completely unbelievable or fantasy or zombies, so I kinda liked that it was semi-realistic, but just this one time. I don’t need it every week. I think it worked well with all the storylines. I think my favorite line was when Annie called the guys “knuckle walker.”
I almost feel sorry for [del]Starburns[/del] Alex. I didn’t notice - has he shaved? And once again, more evidence for my theory that Abid is aware that he is just a character on a sit-com.
I finally caught up on this one last night. I enjoyed the ep pretty well.
I liked seeing Andy Dick as the little pilot. He’s crazy and bizarre, but from some interviews I’ve heard with him on various podcasts I listen to - he’s pretty aware of how crazy and bizarre he is, and rather self-deprecating about all of his problems which makes me enjoy him more.
Only thing I really hated in this one was Chang’s reaction shots. Most of them were so obviously filmed separately from the rest of the cast that it was distracting. Unless that was the point, in which case I just didn’t like the joke they were going for I guess.
