Community 11/4 (open spoilers)

Okay, the whole trampoline thing seemed very familiar, including the incidental music, but I can’t place the references.

The music reminded me of American Beauty, and in fact at first I thought that that was what this was going to be a parody of.

I think community is starting to have too much story and too few jokes.

Looked like “A Secret Garden” to me.

Best line of the night:

“It’s going to be a maze!”

Abed’s Terminator display when he was in his “mean Girl” mode was pretty funny. I liked how he just robotically and unemotionally located and verbalized every flaw a person had.

Neither of the story lines worked for me this time. If Abed’s insults had been more pop-culture based, it might have been a little more plausible, if that’s the right word. and probably funnier. The trampoline story just kind of laid there. Even the racist punchline seemed tacked on.

Funny, the library seems to have recovered quite well from last week’s zombie incident.

Freeze-framing on these will be worth your while, by the way.

At first, I thought they were going to do some sort of *Lost *parody with the garden/trampoline. (With Joshua = Jacob). But as the episode progressed, that made less and less sense.

I was thinking The Secret Garden.

Not a very good one. The trampoline thing was barely funny. The mean girls bit was OK in places, but rather uninspired.

Did anybody else pause it to read all of the info?

In addition to SECRET GARDEN I think there was some COCCOON (the life giving swimming pool secret that gets destroyed).

I liked “Who names a child Meaghan? Are they stocking up in case of a bitch shortage?”

Yeah, this was kind of disappointing. The premise of the episode was promising, but neither of the story lines provided a good payout. Both the Abed as a Mean Girl story line and the trampoline story line ended exactly as I predicted. I just wish they would have done something a little bigger in scope with the stories. Or, maybe just put in more jokes.

Am I the only person who wanted to see how Greendale would teach a women’s studies class? We didn’t even get to see the instructor and I love all the instructors that we’ve been introduced to at Greendale.

Andy Dick played the little man piloting the Dragonfly.

Really? It kind of sounded like the dean to me.

the dean and andy dick’s voice aren’t too far apart. i wasn’t entirely sure until i saw the credits. i agree that it was subpar for community’s usual standards (better than KFC truck though imo) but it still provided more funnies than say… The Office. I wish they would have just ended the Office last season and brought Parks/Rec back.

It was Andy Dick, but why? It might as well have been the Dean.

Didn’t love the episode, but I did think the end of the trampoline story line was hilarious; the Jeff and Troy parts, anyway. It’s increasingly rare that I find Pierce anything other than annoying, this episode didn’t fix that.

I don’t have a recorder or cable and this season I’ve had to choose between Community and Big Bang Theory. I went with BBT but it’s been losing me lately. Last night I switched to Community and I think I made the right choice. Community wasn’t at it’s best last night but still better than the last couple BBTs.

Parks and Rec was/is scheduled as a mid-season premiere, as Amy Poehler didn’t want to go through the ridiculousness of hiding a pregnant belly in all of her scenes.
