Way to come back strong, students of Greendale! Everyone had at least one great line in this one (except for maybe Troy…).

Pierce: “He’s like Abed [pronounced “Ay-Bed”], but employable!” and “That’s a fat girl’s name. Might as well just call her Gravy Jones.”
Shirley: “Well we have to find her for Abed! And if it’s a boy, we have to find him for Jesus.”
Britta: “Bagel.”
Abed: “Pride & Prejudice. So you’re familiar with two sins. Want to try for a third?”
Annie: not so much a line, but her entire reaction to Abed’s Don Draper. (Made all the better because she’s on Mad Men.)
Winger: “I choose pants!”

And what was up with the closing bit with Troy and Abed? What we’re they trying to do? Sesame Street?

Yeah, Abed was Bert and Troy was Ernie. That was hilarious. They had everything perfect, including the way muppets eat cookies, and the fact that Bert’s hands don’t work but Ernie’s do. Abed’s imitation of Bert’s laugh was great.

White Abed was kind of disturbing.

I rarely actually laugh out loud at TV, but when White Abed showed up, I was shrieking. Fucking brilliant. How can there be two guys who look as though their face is painted on the broad side of an axe?

“Why can’t I be brown Joey?”

Also, my husband pronounces “bagel” just like Britta and I make fun of him for it all the time.

This has become my favorite Thursday night show.

:smack:

Shorts. He chose shorts. That was the whole point…

It was a great episode all of the way through. I loved the background reaction to Jeff pool game. I think that’s one of the best things about this show is there is normally a second gag going on behind whatever is the main action.

The part that totally cracked me up was when Troy was suggesting who Abed should act like:

“You should be like Calvin. His best friend was a tiger, he always went on dope adventures, and if anything got in his way he just peed on it.”

I don’t even know who he was referring to, but the look of… fascination? realization? consideration? on Troy’s face when he talked about peeing on anything in his way is great.

Calvin from “Calvin and Hobbes.”

Peeing Calvin window decalsare very popular among a certain segment of the population for some reason (much to Bill Waterson’s dismay).

That’s okay, Pierce didn’t know who he was referring to, either. “Coolidge?”

Another great episode, even if it didn’t have Lauren Stamile in it. Blake Clark in his underwear, is well, err, unforgettable. Unfortunately.

Still tearing thru standard sitcom cliches. I liked especially how they made fun of Britta’s bad “A” but not Pierce’s. Abed doing Don Draper. Wow. The girl approaching Jeff but really wanting to meet Abed. Abed’s breakdown of Jeff’s sitcom character parts, especially Zach Braff. And on and on.

“It’s a good thing there aren’t any old people here, otherwise this conversation would be total gibberish to them!”

I’d expand this a bit to include all pop culture cliches (e.g. the “Can’t Buy me Love” vs. “Love Don’t Cost A Thing” bit and the near-spoilery reference to “The Notebook”), but this hits it pretty well.

The thing I like about “Community” is that–unlike every other cliched bit of entertainment–these characters seem to recognize the cliches and analyze them for us. It’s their way of breaking the fourth wall–kind of like the mockmentary format of shows like “Parks & Rec” and “The Office”, but not as overt.

Excellent episode. This and 30 Rock are the only sitcoms I’d actively miss if they were canceled.

ETA: Forgot It’s Always Sunny.

I thought it started out slowly, but when Abed portrayed his vampire version I completely lost it.

Dammit! That’s what I came to say. Funniest physical comedy bit I’ve seen in a LONG time… Abed is right up there with Charlie from Sunny for best character on TV.

It was also great that Annie was peeking at naked Jeff during the match.

Wrong. Best sitcom character EVER.

And from a particularly distressing angle when he hiked his leg up for that one shot.

As I said, it really started slowly, but by the time it got to Naked Pool I could do naught but bow before the masters.

Britta and the ‘bagel’ thing had everyone watching with me on the floor. I live in Pittsburgh but I am from New Jersey and I still say ‘water’ the NJ way. I thought it was funny because you would think that they would get tired of it but they never do.

Chalk me up as another who loved Abed’s Don Draper. My favorite was all of the non-verbal reactions from Troy, Shirley and Annie. Her falling into his charm so quickly was especially hilarious.

I really love what they’re doing with this show. NBC has an absurd lineup on Thursday nights with this, Parks & Rec (a very slow starter that has also hit a stride), The Office and 30 Rock.

… Where did Abed get the cigarette case?

Abed is batman, always prepared.
