Starts in 20 minutes. I can’t remember when I’ve ever been so amped to see the second half of a sitcom two-parter.
It was good, but not as good as last week’s episode.
They ended it really well, with Abed and Annie’s kiss being the best part.
Great episode, although not as funny as last week’s. Mainly because they had to wrap everything up.
Some great moments:
The whole Annie and Abed thing.
Troy’s and Jeff’s “deaths”, for being complete opposites and equally hilarious.
Pop what?!
I agree with this. This was good but last week’s (like “Modern Warfare” last season) was amazing.
The scene at the end with Pierce was also well done. I wonder if he will be back as a friend or foe next season.
You know, that’s the second time Annie has crushed on Abed when he was doing a character.
I thought it was great. I liked it better than last week’s. Although Pierce walking away felt kind of anti-climatic.
Very much in keeping with the show’s general theme of subversion of sitcom tropes, though.
“Then I’ll see you in hell”
“Denny’s is for winners”
Not as awesome as part 1, but still better than anything any other comedy has done this year.
Edit: Is the part where Vicki runs out screaming “VICKI!!!” a Leeroy Jenkins reference?
I was thinking it might be interested in Pierce tries to form a rival study group using the secondary characters from the show like Starburns, Vicki, Fat Neil, Leonard, etc.
That’s certainly how I took it.
My jaw hit the floor when that came on. I’m amazed it got past the network censors.
I guess this is the end of The Study Group as a “study group.”
I wonder if Community is ever going to reference The Paper Chase, as it’s the only other show I can remember that focuses on a college study group. Perhaps they can do a take-off on the paper chase episode. Or they could do a moot court session.
Looks like I was right all along. Heh.
Anyway. Great episode, not neccecerily as funny as the previous, but it had it’s moments and was entertaining throughout. Community is one of the few shows that I want to watch again after seeing it.
So who wants to count the references? So far I’ve got:
Star Wars – Obvious
War Movie – Magnatude diving on the paint grenade to save his friends. Not sure where this started, but this is a well known trope.
Warriors – Yes, they got Warriors. The Dean talking into the mic.
I know there must be others.
Dirty Dozen - “We made it!”
Wild Bunch - The quick-cut shoot-outs
It’s nice to see they were paying attention to all the damage they caused last year.
I did not catch that at first, I was too busy looking at Greendale’s flag.
I didn’t notice the City College flag until just now.
Meh. That’s not really something that the censors care about.
Me either.
Abed’s commentary on being Han Solo was awesome!
And I knew Pierce was going end up winning it. The man’s just too cunning not to, given the circumstances.
I don’t watch regularly but caught this one and cracked the heck up. Who’s the young black guy? When he got pelted about 50 times, at first it reminded me of Montana getting it in Scarface, then a following shot as Elias from Platoon.
Also, there was a Bond flick that started out with him killing a bunch of bad guys and then, after thinking all were dead and letting his guard down, someone kills him with a shot. Then you see it was a training drill. The end of this show had similar elements.
