I think Troy has the best delivery in all the cast.
My DVR doesn’t have a “series” setting. It will let you record all first run episodes, or all episodes on this day or time, or all episodes of this title. What it will not do is record the extra two minutes you try to add to the timing. It doesn’t record by timing but by where and how the series appears in the episode guide. It’s different from what you use.
Yes, I know about Hulu. It’s the getting cut off that I’m complaining about. That I can catch the ending in another place at another time is another story.
Based in your location there’s a good chance you have Cablevision, which is the same service I have. They’ve added the “extra couple minutes” feature fairly recently. Go in and change the end time to add a minute and it should reflect that for all recordings of the show. It’ll actually show the extra minutes in the “scheduled recordings” listing when you’re done so you’ll be able to verify that it worked.
If it doesn’t work for first run, also try it for “this time slot”, which is almost as good. I know I added a full 10 minutes to Human Target to deal with it following American Idol and those 10 minutes got added the following week as well. And that was set as first run.
Generally speaking, though, I schedule sitcoms manually in blocks so I don’t lose the 20 seconds between shows starting and ending, which often include a bonus bumper. So each Thursday, for example, I set a single recording of 30 Rock for 8pm to 10:01pm.
Nope. Time Warner.
Still worth a shot. Something I forgot to mention is that it only seems to work if you edit an existing timer. If you tack on the extra minute when you first set the timer it seems to ignore it. If you go in and edit an existing persistant timer, it seems to realize you always want the extra time and adds on the same number of mintes each week.
Wow, this makes my problems with my DVR’s (6 so far in 3 years, woo Comcast!) seem minor.
Does anyone else seem to think that Britta is the weakest character? I find everyone else is really on top of their game, but she always “takes me out of the show”, so to speak. I find the other characters really all mesh well, but only when Britta and Jeff interact do I think she meshes well.
Britta was originally a foil for Jeff, the person who saw through his sleaze. Now that Jeff has become a bit less sleazy, she has less to do.
Jeff - you broke Abed.
Abed is now my favorite sitcom character — ever. The actor has absolutely nailed him.
Troy was getting into the dancing far too much…
I liked Abed’s experiments with sarcasm and inflection.
The pants suits actually were rather fetching.
I think he was trying not to cry as he did it. He had some funny facial expressions.
the breakfast club dance was hilarious.
but whoever did Britta’s makeup last night should be fired. It was glaringly awful.
Jeff: (paraphrasing) Something something something.
Abed: “Movie reference.”
Britta: “Do be fair, Abed’s turtle face is hysterical.”
It was so bad that it HAD to be on purpose—She has always looked so good with minimal makeup, extremely fresh and natural, so to see her painted up like that was a huge WTF…
(and for some reason, Professor Slater wasn’t as hot as usual either—Annie is still the most attractive member of the cast, for my money)
Britta was supposed to look hung over. She was supposed to look bad.
I thought they were referring to her appearance at the dance - by which time she should no longer be hungover. The makeup was way over done.
Well, she did it to mess with Jeff, so maybe it was bad on purpose.
If I haven’t said it before, I’ll say it now. I love Señor Chang. He’s the most obnoxious character I’ve ever come across, and yet I love him.
Agree that dance makeup was ridiculous. Especially the lips.
Also, does anyone else besides me not like Prof. Slater? She just seems kind of bitchy and insecure. Like how before any of this Jeff-Britta drama started, she kept making little snide comments about Britta, calling her “Bitter” and “the girl with a million leather jackets,” and saying the only reason she was against Valentine’s day was cause she didn’t have a date.
My opinion might be tainted by the fact that I’m a huge Jeff-Britta shipper. Usually I don’t like it when the male and female leads get together, cause I think it almost implies that men and women can’t just be really good friends, and in a way maybe demeans friendship. But something about Jeff and Britta . . . as Shirley says, “two cute white people . . . it just seems right.”
I’m not big on Prof Slater and Jeff. I’m also not pro Jeff and Britta. At least not until Britta grows a bit more with her character.
