"Community" (new NBC show)

“You can’t do that!”

“Have you MET ME?!”

This show is consistently the funniest on TV… it shall die a quick death, and According to Jim will get season 12 greenlit.

Inflection is SO interesting.

She thought it was geology class and I told her, “we’re not learning about countries in here!”

Molly Ringworm.

We know it was on fake Princeton stationary, so it was clearly a Princeton professor who ran out.

I wonder if I’m the only person who finds Abed weirdly sexy (emphasis on weirdly).

Loved the Cobain/Love references.

Fave lines:

“We need to find the actor who’s playing you.”/“They’re going to love you in California.”

“She wants everyone to be honest but she lies to herself. She’s seen the world but doesn’t get it. She has more fights about crap that doesn’t matter than a YouTube comments section. She’s passionate about things, which I find stupid, but entertaining.”

“Looks like the law firm of Seacrest and Slumdog is on vacation.”

The beige praying mantis?

He’s the me I wish I could be.

The beige praying mantis with the encyclopedic knowledge of film and television and who’s an incredible dancer.

This. He’s brilliant. Or me, if you subtract the brilliance and add more nerdiness.

Or is it Senor Chang?

“Scorsese drank with De Niro. It’s not for me. It’s for the audience.”

Incidentally, I have to commend Chevy Chase’s performance in this show. He hasn’t been a distraction or tried over take over the show, and he’s actually managed to make Pierce into a real character instead of just Chevy Chase hamming it up. The fact that I think of Pierce as Pierce and not as Chevy Chase is a testament to Chevy, since that was a high bar for him to hurdle.

“Balance restored, I guess.”

“Move your reference.”

Okay, the rest was cliched, but you can see that as the end of the episode.

Less the broach, Troy’s pants suit was pretty much '70s disco guy.

“Move your reference.”? No way. He said “Movie reference”, as in, this is where Abed would work in a movie reference but he’s broken and can’t think of one. Abed is so meta.

Agreed. I think once Chevy sobered up, he got a lot smarter about what he can still be great at. He’s turned in some amazing stuff in Community and Chuck.

Prof. Slater was definitely being “catty” towards Britta, but from what she has seen she has every right to be suspicious of a relationship between Jeff and Britta, and she has not seen the two of them kiss, for example. I’m surprised she was as forgiving as she was the the drunk dialing to the wrong person.

I don’t think she did have a reason to be suspicious though, until the events of this latest ep. As far as she knew, the only reason Britta would be “competition” is because she’s very pretty (which is why I think she made those remarks). She made those comments before the drunk-dialing incident.

Have Jeff and Britta kissed?

Yup, they kissed in the Carpe Diem professor episode.

I think Prof. Slater is catty towards Britta, but even if she didn’t know Jeff’s history of chasing Britta, I think she’s not being more so about it than the rest of the crew (see Annie’s comments about her boots in the last episode). I’m sure she noticed that Jeff and Britta hang out together quite often and I’m doubt she missed the way Jeff tends to moon over Britta. And besides, it’s perfectly normal to be slightly jealous of a pretty girl that your boyfriend is always hanging out with. She’s insecure, but that’s because Jeff hasn’t given her much reason to be secure with their relationship.

The whole cast is great, and I agree wholeheartedly with Dio’s comments on Chevy Chase, but Abed really makes the show for me. Hilarious character and acted with perfection.

I’m not sure what “Move your reference” would even have meant in that context.

My guess is dropzone was (incorrectly) interpreting this as something like:

“Balance restored, I guess. [But not really. Boy, things are weird now]”

“Move your reference. [Change your frame of mind to accommodate the new state of things, and it’ll feel just fine and ‘balanced’]”

Er, something. That seemed a more coherent parsing before I started writing it out.

I misheard.
