Community - Season 4

Inspector Spacetime shirts exist in our timeline; Abed obviously just lives in a world where a show like Community gently parodies Inspector Spacetime with a show-within-a-show called Doctor Who.

It wasn’t a Doctor Who shirt. It was a Doctor Who and Bill & Ted shirt.

And I must have one.

And now you make space to watch it, right?

Dean as Winger. Funny

Winger refusing to go along at all. Funnier

Annie getting the hots for Dean as Winger. Funniest
I wasn’t too impressed with Abed as Troy, but Troy as Abed was almost as good as Dean as Winger

Threadless

Dean Pelton has done Winger before, when he was directing his commercial. It wasn’t quite as blatant, but as Jeff slipped into his role as the Dean, the Dean kept channelling Jeff as well.

Jim Rash is amazing. My wife said that he wrote the next episode, so I’m looking forward to that.

Actually he wrote this week’s episode, not next week’s.

And won an Oscar for writing The Descendants.

Wow. The Dean is fuckin’ awesome.

I really liked this episode. The fact that

It all took place in Jeff’s head.

explains the weird motivation of the doppelgangers.

I’m guessing that episode was shot before Chevy left. Although by his barely being in this episode, as well as the last one he was in, it’s pretty obvious he was only there contractually.

Anyway, I heard that there’s a chance that the show could be picked up by another network. I’m not sure if that would be a good thing or a bad thing.

Looks like NBC is holding off on the renew/cancel notice for the show. To avoid damaging the ratings for the season finale? That would mean a cancel. Hope not. We’ll see.

Still, tonight’s episode was a natural ending to the whole story.

Evil Annie was hot, but her red dress could have been sluttier.

Nay, should have been.

Wait. Evil Jeff graduated and went back to practicing law. What was he doing still in alternate Greendale?

Don’t try to logic this one away from me.

Touché.

Also, I’m glad you didn’t slap me before saying that.

If Dan Harmon came back it would be a good thing. As difficult as he may have been for the Execs regarding deadlines and budgets, he was a genius with his show, and his absence is painfully evident.

I think the writers have been steadily getting better since the first episode of this season, but at any rate I’m not too hopeful of a renewal.

Did they originally plan to broadcast this season earlier? It seemed like there was a halloween episode and a christmas episode in like Febrary and April respectively.

Their own explanation of the delay is here.

I liked the beginning, but it ended up feeling rushed – almost as if they had an idea for a two-part episode and tried to cram it into a single episode.

With Jeff graduated and returned to practicing law and the others scheduled to graduate, I don’t really see where they woudl go if it were renewed. I think they should just let it go.

One minor nitpick that in no way affects my love of the show overall: community colleges do hold graduations, and since many of their graduates are the first in their family to graduate from any kind of college they’re actually kind of a big deal.
