Community - Season 4

Jeff mentioned that his degree was in education. My guess is that if they continue the show, he’ll stay on as an instructor or professor at Greendale.

It was a bloody mess, but I loved it. It felt like a Thank you and I love you to the fans, ya know?

Especially seeing Jeff in his underwear for probably the last time.

I guess they ran out of budget for the giant robot spider mentioned at the end of the previous, penultimate episode. When the dean of City College unfurled the blueprints.

They probably couldn’t afford to hire Kenneth Branagh, put him in a wheelchair and CGI away his legs for one episode - which is the only way you could then end up with a giant robot spider, amirite?

Well, unless Joel McHale makes a deal with Playgirl.

Last night’s broadcast performed rather well, and the major players have strong motivation to keep things going.

We’ll see.

If this show gets renewed I’m going to be pissed. If it’s popular enough to get 5 seasons, and yet they fucking deliberately cripple 2… what a fucking waste. Just let it die unless you’re going to bring the old staff back.

I’ll give it a chance. My only fear is that it will start off with a big drop in quality and have to craw it’s way back up, pretty much like what happened this season.

Joel (which is also my real life name ) has “The Soup” and does standup.
Donald Glover does standup and raps as Childish Gambino.
Alison Brie is in “Mad Men”.
Chevy Chase of course hated the show, and apparently being part of a TV sitcom at all.
Which just leaves Gillian Jacobs and Yvette Nicole Brown as the only two who don’t seem to have a regular gig outside of Community.

I can’t access Deadline Hollywood Daily here at work, but I’m assuming they are also reporting renewal for Community. Lucrative syndication prospects with an additional 16 - enough to reach 100 eps total - had to be a big driver.

Cool cool cool.

Yep, Community renewed for season 5. No word yet on the # of episodes.

BTW, did you notice “Six Seasons And A Movie” was written on the blackboard during the graduation scene?

Reading the white board behind Annie and Shirley has been one of my favorite parts of the show.

Slightly off topic, but for Chang haters, if you’ve watched any of the Hanover movies (I haven’t), how is Ken Jeong in those? From the commercials he seems pretty much to be playing the same character.

I stopped watching early this season after loving the first three. Should I watch the rest of the episodes?

Yes, they improve in quality. No real heights compared to previous years, but the early episodes were real stinkers. Though you do have someone spouting an earnest lesson about friendship and personal growth despoiling every single one. You can mute or fast forward through those and lose nothing.

Wow, this is the first time I’ve actually been angry that one of my favorite shows (at one point) was renewed.

13 episode order. Takes the series to 97 eps total.

If they make a 2 hour TV movie at the end, that takes them to 101. Love it.

Indeed it was sometimes uncanny. My wife and I wondered a few times whether they were doing a voiceover.
