Computer problem--fonts not showing up in Quickbooks

A friend e-mailed me with this problem–I don’t know how to help so I’m tossing it out to all you smart people!

I encountered a problem recently with my accounting program (quickbooks). I use it to print client invoices, statements and financial reports. It worked fine until Jan. (used the program for 2 years already). Suddenly, I started having reports, etc. print rectangles where letters should be. All positioned in the right places, the numerals were there, etc.

To make a long story short, I have contacted tech. support (no help), spent hours installing and uninstalling software, checked for windows critical updates, checked my printer drivers, etc.

It appears that I have a problem with my font folder. Have you ever encountered anything like this? Someone suggested getting a font manager. Would that correct any problem with the font folder?

Any ideas?

I reckon that the font files got corrupted. Reinstall those.
