Computer Problem! MP3s into .vsb?>!?

My MP3 files have been turned into some strange type of VSB script. I don’t know what that is, all I know is that I can’t play them and it is really strange…
Thanks

Sounds like you have a virus: VBS.LoveLetter

Here’s a program to fix it: VBS.LoveLetter Fix

That is TOTALLY strange! I get tons of junk mail everyday, but I NEVER open any of it. I simply delete it by the masses. How could I have got it without openning?
Thanks

Hmm, it Norton says that my virus definitions are older than my computer is. Kinda strange. I can’t run a virus definition update since my subscription has run out. I ran the diagnostic from symantec without running a virus definition update (because it would not let me), it said your computer is not infected with the virus! The problem is still there. Is that just because the definitions are too old? Hmmmm

>> When this file is opened on a computer which supports WSH (Windows Scripting Host), it will send itself to all entries in MS Outlooks address book

I disabled WSH long time ago just to prevent this kind of stuff. It’s easy and you really don’t need it.

You are right Sailor, that program runs but I have to CRT-ALT-DLT it because it does not respond. Apparently, my subscription to the Norton Virus Definitions ran out. Now I thought this was a free service. But apparently it is not, I can run the diagnostic, but since the definition is old, it doesn’t work. I might drive over to Symantec tomorrow and have a little talk  Or just pay the fee to subscribe to that service and fix it.
Thanks,
MAtt

BTW, I forgot to ask, how could I have gotten this virus? I don’t open email like that and I didn’t get it from anyone over any type of IRC. I have a cable modem, I am not sure about a firewall or anything. Could that be it? I mean, I played an MP3 and then 5 minutes later the icon was all messed up with a paper on it (not the .wav or midi, only the .mp3), pretty weird that it happened right in front of my eyes.
Thanks again,

I am sorry to keep adding things, but why are MP3s on the desktop not affected when those in other files are? And are there any other effects of the virus besides not being able to play MP3s? Hmmm
Thanks,

WOW! I am an idiot! That file was actually in Midi not .mp3. Well, it was the Space Quest 1 intro. And it kinda sounded MP3ish on my Soundblaster Live!. Oh well, I feel stupid. Plz help
Thanks,
