After stonewalling for so long, he’s finally admitted to having an affair with the disappeared intern. No shit, Sherlock. A young woman with a thing for older guys from his home district starts showing up and chatting with him. Then they start going out. I found the detail about how they liked “body-oil massages and low-fat Ben & Jerry’s” touching, but in a sad, pathetic way.
Anyhow, she’s still missing, and the police don’t consider him a suspect. One thing’s for sure, though-his ass is toasted come election time.
Since the story first broke, I’ve harbored this theory that Chandra Levy (sp?) isn’t dead and isn’t really even missing. My theory is that Condit slipped Ms. Levy some money to go away for a while, and now she’s idly sipping Chardonnay in some Swiss chalet. He hoped this would get rid of her, but then her pesky family started asking questions…
BTW, did you know that some 80% of missing adults don’t even know they’re missing? They just go about their lives, having no idea that anybody is wondering about their whereabouts! I read that somewhere.
And if rastahomie’s scenario is correct (it very well may be), then he picked a good place to do it. DC police have a horrendous closure rate on homicides, etc. and adult missing persons cases tend to go on for years or until they find a body.
Conventional water-cooler wisdom has it that she was either pregnant or wanted to piss him off when he told her he wouldn’t divorce his wife so they could be together.
I hate to be a spoilsport, but why should I care about this? Yes, Levy’s missing and we should find her, but what does Conduit and Levy doing the horizontal hula have to do with anything? At least, I don’t believe it’s illegal to have an affair, right?
Here are my feelings on it.
It helps investigators when they can accumulate as much accurate information as they can. If there is a fear that there may be a life at stake then the gathering of that information in a timely manner is very important.
Ms. Levy’s parents and friends have expressed the sentiment that Mr. Condit has not been forthcoming with his information in such a timely manner.
Granted, members of Congress receive a little more leeway, but if, indeed, there is a life at stake it behooves Mr. Condit to be more forthcoming with whatever information he may have to offer.
“Whether interning in Modesto, Merced, or Washington D.C., working in one of Rep. Condit’s offices can be an extremely rewarding experience. Typical duties of Interns can range from assisting with phone’s to researching legislative projects.” [or hopping in bed with him]
"If you would like additional information on interning for Rep. Condit, please fill out and submit the following form. " [with measurements and a bikini photo]
not surprised at all. i even read somewhere that her family thinks that she might have been carring his child at the time she “dissappeared” too.
the D.C. cops say that Condit is not even a suspect but the rest of us all think that he is guilty of something
I think every Congressman/woman who admits to having an affair(while in office) should resign. Yes, I know that would mean most of them would quit, but I really feel that if you can’t keep your marriage vows, you shouldn’t be creating our laws or be our leader.
Of course, this goes for Repubs., Dems., and Independants.
Oh, god. You commit murder, you pay. You have an affair, you pay. BIG difference in HOW you pay. Maybe we might try not to mix the two up? Not yet, anyway…
we see that detectives have found blood splatters on Condit’s venetian blinds. Maybe nothing to do with Levy, but how in the world did blood get up on the blinds?
