I’ve had a crush on her ever since Abfab.
When I was what I assume was her age, I had a thing for Penny from Inspector Gadget, back in the 80s.
Well Peter Davison was probably my first huge crush as a young teen.
But I absolutely adored Josh Bernstein when he was on Digging for the Truth. Don’t watch it anymore because he’s not there.
Oh…I do have an equitable love for Jamie and Adam on Mythbusters. And Grant. And Tori.
Peri Gilpin
from Frasier.
And not just because she was on this TV show in 2005.

Ooh, Ok, then I can admit it, too? Something fascinating about him, definitely.
As long as we’re admitting to animated crushes, let me also add a few from the video game world:
Sephiroth , from Final Fantasy VII
Ghaleon , from Lunar: Silver Star
Prince Kael’thas Sunstrider, from WoW (both pre- and post-defeat …yeah, I’m a little weird)
No votes yet for Brocktoon?
I was hoping someone else would mention this, but “Janice” from Friends. Whiny voiced, controlling, laugh like a hyena, blessed by the Hooter Fairy. Gotta have it.
Weird thing is, when I mentioned this in a drinking session with the guys, about 70% said the same thing - she’d drive you absolutely batshit as a girlfriend or wife, but oh well. Maybe it’s because we’re all Montana boys and have had no exposure the the women that stereotype is based on.
As for geek cred, the actress Maggie Wheeler was a long-time girlfriend of David Duchovony.
Penny was HAWT…to this 12 year old that watched her.

- Honey West-she was HOT!
- Ursula Andress (that White/Black bikini)HOT!
- T’ffaul (or whatshername) from STARTREK -HOT!
- Roseanneposeannaadana (From the old SNL)-oddly hot
Let’s see…
Khrystyne Haje from Head of the Class (all that red hair… yum!)
Both Ari Meyers and Allison Smith from Kate & Allie
Cynthia Gibb from Fame
Pam Dawber from Mork & Mindy
Louise Robey from Friday the 13th: The Series
Y’know, a lot of these women aren’t really what I’d call obscure.
Peri Gilpin? Erin Gray? Allyson Hannigan? They’re pretty well known.
I was pretty sure I didn’t really have any obscure and geeky TV crushes, since I don’t watch TV, but then I remembered Rami Malek. The first time I watched Night at the Museum* the whole movie was derailed for me the second the mummy pulled off his wrappings and I saw this stunning pair of dark blue eyes . After that, I had to find out more about him, which led to me Netflixing the first season of The War at Home.
Ah, Kenny, my love. A reoccurring guest star on a sitcom that was canceled after two seasons, that I’d never heard of until it was off the air, but it didn’t matter, did it? No, nothing could come between our love. Sure, Kenny is a gay teenager** and I’m a woman in my twenties. Sure, Kenny is fictional and I’m not, but it doesn’t matter. Someday, my love, someday!
- Yes, I’ve watched it multiple times. Shut up.
** But Rami Malek is only three years younger than me, so it’s okay and totally legal.***
*** Okay, some of the things I want to do to him may be illegal in Texas…
You know, the second I saw Debra Messing on Will and Grace, I thought of Micki!
God, Ft13 was a fun show.
Seconded! Stefan Brogren in the new series of Degrassi is yummy.
They’re well known among geek circles (which wouldn’t make them very obscure for this board). But ask a random sampling of people who those actresses are and I imagine all you’d get are blank stares.
I disagree, Justin. Even non-geeks would know Peri Gilpin, for example. In fact, there’s nothing particularly geeky about her.
As for Allyson Hannigan, she starred in one of the biggest hits among teen and young adults in recent years, not to mention a series of tasteless but popular movies. I think it’s safe to say that she’s well known even among a large number of non-geeks.
And Erin Gray? She’s come up in conversation before, and even my non-geeky friends know who she is.
DING DING DING DING!
We have a winner!
Eve from Out of This World. It was an 80s sitcom about a girl who has a father that
is really, well, you have to see it to understand it. I remember how she used her powers for all sorts of things, like driving, I remember one episode involving a taffata dress. She was just a cute 80s girl. sigh
Back to animated characters, the first TV crush I remember was Speed Racer (I was six). I went so far as to write “I love Speed” on my notebook with a heart around it. That probably confused my teachers.
More recently, since *Fight Club *I’ve had a bit of a thing for Holt McCallany, who while not a TV crush, was certainly obscure. But now in looking for links I find out he’s been on Heroes! Holy cow! So now he’s both obscure and geeky. I guess I’d better get around to watching that show one of these days…
