Congratulations to Bush and his supporters

Pardon me if I was unclear.
We, the American people, have given him a mandate.
I certainly did not vote for that… person.

And, um…
while I find Shrubco’s religious moralizing to be repugnant on several levels, what gives you the impression that the plight of gays/lesbians in this country is at the forefront of my thoughts?
Or did I mis-read your post?
(I care much, much, much more about NCLB than gay marriage, truth be told)

But you have to remember, for rjung this an almost superhuman act of good sportsmanship and grace.

Let me make sure I get this:

Both gobear and Diogenes are angry and upset over Bush’s re-election, have called it a Pyrhhic victory and fear for the future of America. But, because gobear reined in his emotions, offered his congratulations, and spoke of fighting and winning the next time while Dio showed how upset he is, it makes one guy a class act while the other is a prick.

This is a great exercise in psychology/sociology. If you can rein in and control your emotions, you can go places.

(BTW, I’m not slamming anyone, I’ve always liked both posters for different reasons)

Words to embroider on a pillow if I ever saw them.

Gobear:

Where’s that hat off smiley? As usual, your quality shows.
I think you are making a mistake though to feel despair about how the gay marriage vote went.

Four years ago this thinging being on a ballot was an impossibility. It has come very far, very fast and it is still new in the arena of ideas.

It is out there and it is being fought and it will continue to be fought, and I believe firmly that it’s time is here.

Even the mightiest of battering rams have to smash against the wall several times before the wall crumbles.

The cracks are showing at the first strike. Smile.

Misread, no. Misunderstand, yes. Mandate. Man-date.

Well, “my guy” lost. I’m grateful at least that this time it didn’t go to the Supreme Court. I was hoping that Kerry would squeak by, and it was nip and tuck for a while. I’m not thrilled about the outcome but stuff happens. So being the NY Mets fan that I am, all I can say is “Wait til next time”. Meanwhile if things go badly, I can freely thumb my nose at people who did vote for Bush and say “nyah nyah I told you so”. For the record, I still think he got spanked in the debates, if that’s worth anything.

Yeah, congratulations to Bush and his supporters.

Fuck me…
