Congressman Anthony Weiner: My Twitter account was hacked! The weiner photo is not mine!

No one has harrassed him. He’s done hours of interviews to get his side of the story out there. Despite the bitching, he’s needed to do that because the alternative is worse. Making yourself available to every network under the sun and then calling the cops on a reporter inconsistent, and it will only perpetuate the media frenzy because it makes it look like he has something to hide. That’s not how he wants to look.

Are the cinnamon rolls sweeter in your little world?

I like AW, he is a bleeding heart liberal and so am I. I like the guy. He seems like a nice fellow.

But, I think he sent this photo on purpose and he is more-or-less lying now. Darn shame. He ought to just come clean.

Lacking real proof, I am going on a couple of things we do know.

  1. When the congressman said he was at the hockey game at the moment the tweet was sent, but the timeline shows otherwise.
  2. He sent a casual tweet mentioning Seattle.
  3. Then the mysterious photo ended up in Seattle. Chance events happen, but this seems very odd indeed.

I hope AW will provide the details of his investigation. I hope they prove him innocent. I just would not bet that way.

What are you smoking?? A CBS news reporter, doing her job by trying to gather and report news, is suddenly “an unstable stalker”??

a nutjob shows up in a crime victim’s office and starts hounding him with bizarre personal questions. The cops have to get involved with that. If she wants to ask questions, she can go to a press conference like everybody else. The guy had just gotten done spending hours talking to th press, and he actually does have a job to do. Her intrusion was inappropriate and disturbing. I bet she has a history.

Again, wtf are you smoking?? “nutjob”?? She’s a reporter, that’s what reporters do, ask questions. Bizarre personal questions"?? Like, the same ones he was freely discussing all week, on national TV?

It’s not their job to hound crime victims, especially after that victim has already spoken plenty to the Press. She intruded on his private space to try to ask lascivious questions. That is very odd behavior. She should be watched carefully. She might be the one who hacked his tweeter page.

If nothing else, he needs to be able to do his actual job.

I really like Congressman Weiner, his attacks on the Republicans are a bright spot in the usual Democratic facade of mealy-mouthed dissembling. But if he did not send that photo, he’s being incredibly stupid. If he DID send it, he was even stupider. If he did NOT send the photo, all he has to say is, 'I did not send that photo." And if the photo is not of him, all he has to say is, “That is not my bulging boxer shorts photo.” Hell, if it IS of him, and someone hacked his personal computer, he has the option of saying, “Yeah, I keep a little stash of naughty photos of me, it’s something personal between me and my wife, and this guy broke in and stole it.”

But he ain’t doing any of that. He’s either a dummy or he’s guilty, and damn, he sure doesn’t act dumb.

As for the photo, even if he’s guilty, it’s a matter for him and his wife. Not our business, really.

He HAS said, “I did not send the photo.”

Anybody care to answer this question? Could you say definitively it is or isn’t from one of the photos you took?

Anyone seen James O’Keefe lately?

Yeah, that’s one of the things that looks worst for him.

This is deliberately ridiculous. He hasn’t reported any crime, she’s not hounding him, and she’s not a nutjob. She went to his office to do her job and ask him questions.

He hasn’t held a press conference. And most reporting, fortunately, is not based on press conferences.

Yes, she does have a history:

I don’t know about definitively, but with a high degree of confidence, yes. First off, I know what my own body looks like, and second, I know what my own underwear looks like.

Yeah fuck her and fuck his constituents and fuck the people. How dare they go above their station and try to talk to this God. He doesn’t owe them shit and especially his time. He’s a goddamned congressman not some lowly piece of shit like the people that voted for him.

I can definitively say that I do not own grey underwear like that so no it would not be me. I can also say definitively that I have never taken so many pictures of my crotch or me just in underwear, in fact I never have, that I could not possibly remeber if it was me or not so with that info I can definitely say that no it would not be me.

Seriously if he has taken so many pictures of his crotch or of him just in his underwear that he can’t remember if he even owns or has ever owned grey boxers like that he might want to give up photography.

I have never owned grey underwear. Since I stopped wearing tighty whiteys I have only ever bought boxers in shades of blue or red because I like to pretend I am Superman.

Um, the Capitol Building is public space, as is the House and Senate office buildings. In fact the cafeteria in the Rayburn building, where Weiner has his office, is fully open to the public. Tourists cued into this fact can grab a cheap lunch there and avoid the pricier restaurants on Capitol Hill.

How can a congressional representative maintain his office as private space when he represents the public and must regularly meet with them? Can’t be done.

If a politician wants privacy they should go home.

You can’t just walk right into the actual private office. You go to a lobby and say you want to talk to your Congressman (I’ve done it). Then you it on a couch until the Congresman comes out or whatever, but you can’t just barge into his actual office office. If the public was allowed to do that it would be impossible for them to work. She got hauled away like any other nut job.

A lot of reporters on the Congressional beat have credentials that allow them to wander the halls without a specific appointment, and talk to Members of Congress. That is not to say she she had the right to stay if asked to leave, but she probably had the right to come into his Congressional office if the door was open. I used to have those kind of credentials for the Capitol Building, and I was more a technician than a reporter.

There’s the “office” and there’s the actual OFFICE office, though.

She was never in his private office.

She didn’t get haulted away. She left after Weiner wouldn’t talk to her. Then his staff called the cops. And she wasn’t arrested. Again, this is totally ridiculous. We get it, you’re supporting Weiner. He may not have done anything wrong. Then again we also don’t know that he was the victim of a crime. The people involved in this case who have said Anthony Weiner is the victim of a crime are as follows:

  1. Anthony Weiner

He would know.

Jeez, you’re a moron. No one got “hauled away”. The CBS news crew left when Weiner refused to talk to them. Then, AFTER SHE LEFT, he called the cops to try to get them to harass the news crew.
