At what point does he love being an exhibitionistmore than his career?
What a dick move by Weiner.
Is a shirtless weiner sort of the opposite of a corn dog?
Do people seriously find pictures of a topless man to be other than trivial? I can kinda understand a wang-bulge causing people to fall into their fainting couches, but a topless dude?
As I’ve said on other threads, I’m surprised with camera phones, things like this aren’t all over the place. I mean the locker rooms are full of guys on cell phones, most which have cell phones. It would be so easy to take photos of guys.
Maybe in gyms that cater to high end celebs and famous people, they are very strict about it, but I see guys using cell phones in bathrooms all the time. It should be fairly easy to get pics.
By now you’d think public figures would have got the memo that actions and words on the network are the same as actions and words in a public place.
The thing is, Markxxx, invasion of privacy can still get you sued or arrested - so we rely on these dudes to show themselves for the, um, weiners they are.
Perhaps we should have legislation to remind public officials that if you wouldn’t do it in front of your grandma, then you shouldn’t do it on the internet. I’m sure we can create multiple special committees to research the affect this behavior has on the general populace.
Insane? Probably not. Incredible stupid? Absolutely.
Not much of a bulge there, but visible-ish i guess.

Very true, but who’s gonna know who took it. If a guy is changing shorts in the locker room, and someone snaps a pic of him in a locker room. Cuts out all the background and claims the person sent it to him.
How are you ever gonna prove or disprove this?
I don’t think it’s as easy as it looks. Most people are aware of where the cameras are located on phones. And the penalty and embarrassment of getting caught should sway most people to refrain. Last week, my boss caught an old man on a commuter train attempting to take a picture up a young teenager’s skirt. She called the guy out by screaming at him and blocking the girl. Some other guy grabbed him, grabbed his phone and took him off the train and to the authorities. I don’t know if this resulted in any punishment, but I’m sure the guy will never ride that train again.
A truer statement has never been made.
Joe
I think the problem is that people still don’t understand what it means that we’re all connected by computers now. Eventually it’ll sink in that all electronic communication is traceable, and that it never goes away. Until then, we’ll have a scandal like this every so often.
The cover-up is worse than the crime. His resignation speech out to be good.
So so true. True everywhere, but especially so in American politics. He could have cut this off at the pass and got ahead of the story - held a press conference, apologized for his actions, done the whole “This, unfortunately, is not the first time I’ve done this but it certainly will be the last”, and killed the story right there. People would giggle, he’s never really outrun it, but it wouldn’t be a major story. But he didn’t.
I don’t care that he sent a bunch of cock shots to various women, that’s between him and his wife. I don’t really care too much that he lied about it afterwards, people lie when they fuck up. I care that he was dumb enough to let it carry on so long while denying it, thus ensuring that the people who wanted to embarrass him had all the time they needed to find more pictures and more women. It’s the stupidity that’s disappointing from a man that seemed kind of awesome.
Jeez Weiner, what city was it again that Brett Favre was playing in when he sent dick pics to that woman?
Now a porn star named Ginger Lee is claiming that she has been sexting back and forth with Weiner for the last 9 months, and that he recently sent her a message encouraging and coaching her on how to lie and/or mislead any journalists or investigators who come sniffing around looking for details about their relationship.
He is a late-night comic’s wet dream…
I can’t believe this guy is my Congressman.
He sure won’t be for much longer. What an IDIOT!!! Leave aside whatever moral issues are involved (his religion, which is supposed to be Orthodox Judaism like mine; his marriage), how stupid does he have to be to jeopardize a career he worked his whole life for by doing something like this? I realize that I’m a bit more prudish than your average SDMB member, but…sending a picture of your underwear to some girl is standard courtship behavior these days??? If sex or love is worth risking a career over, wouldn’t it still make sense to not expose his privates until they’re actually going to get down to business?
Seriously, I don’t want someone this stupid repesenting me. If he’s really that dumb (and he must be), he’s probably been getting figuratively fucked over by other members of Congress on our “behalf” for years. I guess this latest issue is just his way of wanting to make that more literal.
I think congress should pass one of those non-binding resolutions that says something like:
“Notice to Congress and all other persons of public prominence: If you are considering doing something your grandmother would not approve of, don’t. If you do do it, don’t document it with written words and/or photographs. If you are stupid enough to document with written words and/or photographs, don’t transmit these over the Internet. If you do transmit them over the Internet, expect to get caught. Once caught, don’t deny it. If you do deny it, expect to be proven a liar. If proven a liar, just quit now because you seem unable to do anything right.”
How can anyone not know this by now?
While I’m sure you’re upset about this, I don’t believe that his lack of judgment in one area of his life necessarily reflects his professional judgment. Think Bill Clinton.
