Conservative pundits advocating murder against fellow Americans

It’s not just Arab males between 20 and 50 who get invasively (yes, I think you know what I mean) in airports in the US. At least, on my husband’s flight, it was any male, American, Japanese, Arab, or Fredonian who was under 60 and travelling alone.

I personally think it’s ridiculous. I do not think Arab males are the thing that’s going to end America. But YMMV.

And then be so cunning as to let many of them go as innocents after presumably “aggressively” interrogating them? Brilliant. Hey, if there innocent, they got nothing to complain about - they got three hots and a cot on our dime for a couple of years, and we were magnanimous enough to let 'em leave walking. Fuck the pansies who want to be sure we do our best to avoid giving a good anal plunger to an “innocent” Arab. They won’t appreciate us until the knife is deep in their necks!

Yeah. O’Reilly’s got nothing on you. A knife in the neck is a pussy analogy - let’s go full bore! Bleeding heart liberals won’t appreciate us until a jetliner is sliding through their office window! Then they’ll rue the day they ever disagreed with us!

But maybe the next 9/11 type event these Arab bastards’ll do is decide to hit a building in middle America. Yeah, some sort of federal building in the midwest somewhere, using a truck bomb or something. We better give every one of them Arabs a good rogering at Customs and Immigration to keep that from ever happening!

Boromir, is that you? Too bad about those arrows, but things will work out better without you and your plans.

Squink, you owe me a new keyboard.

Hmmmm. So we should have secret arrests, with no charges filed, torture anyone we grab because they might not be innocent, only hold a trial of any sort when the bleeding heart pansy Supreme Court forces us to, and maybe kill 'em all afterwards too. Anyone who is not obviously a WASP is “swarthy” and thererfore presumed guilty too. Evil, what fucking country do you live in? It sure isn’t the U.S.A. I live in. Here’s some perspective. I’m very familiar with 9/11 and the feelings it evokes. I grew up in New York and worked for a while right near the Trade Center. My relatives worked there. When I saw bodies falling, it could have been family. I think I can hate with the best of them, when it comes to this. I also have no issues with finding and killing those responsible. But what you see as right is dead wrong. You are talking about scuttling everything this country was founded on and is supposed to stand for. This country doesn’t need people like you. You’d like it better back in the good old days, you would have loved Joe Stalin’s Russia. Asshole.

The Oklahoma City bombing taught me that white males are potential terrorists.

Hey, Evil One, what’s your gender and ethnicity? Hmmm…

If so, you can’t have it both ways, Steve. Hard choices have to be made and distasteful deeds have to be done in order to prevent future attacks. Who among the recently indignant would like to sacrifice themselves or a family member to a terrorist attack in the name of our traditional justice system?

Would you like to sacrifice yourself to indefinite imprisonment and torture in the name of our new, decidedly non-traditional justice system? If the answer is ‘no’, then I really don’t think you have a leg to stand on.

I am a card carrying member of the oppressor class, rjung.

El_Kabong, you have hit upon the crux of the problem.

I would ask you and all the others who are shocked and annoyed by what I have said what your solution would be. It’s too easy to sit back and bitch about what you don’t like…give me your alternative.

You are now charged with the protection of the American people. You have absolute power. What is your plan?

I, personally, would rather live in a society where the occasional terrorist gets through and kills a lot of people, than to live in one where innocents are locked up and tortured. It’s a risk I’m willing to take.

It’s not like me and my loved ones aren’t going to die anyway someday if a terrorist doesn’t get us.

Where is Evil Captor when we need him? Someone call Evil Captor, because there is an Evil One running amok.

I’ll give you the same scenario that I have someone else in another thread. They couldn’t answer Maybe you’ll be able to step up. Ten people are arrested in a house filled with weapons. One is innocent…in the wrong place at the wrong time. Three others know nothing, but are true believers. Four more are foot soldiers in the plan. One is the ringleader who knows valuable information. Of course, all ten of them are claiming ignorance and innocence. American lives depend on you getting results. What’s your plan, big man?

9/11 woke many people up. Some still slumber, thinking that this is not a dirty business where lives are at stake. I recommend you carry your convictions loudly and proudly…until it happens again.

Falling back on Oklahoma City is intellectually dishonest. In 1995, the people that allowed 9/11 to happen were being allowed to train in the open and were generally being ignored. We paid the price six years later.

Can’t happen. We’re winning the war on terror, remember? Victory in Iraq and Afghanistan and all that. Terrorists on the run. We’re even color coded.

Looks like we’ll just never get it. :frowning:

“BWA-HA-HA!!!”

I guess that is an easier answer than dealing with the hard questions. Thankfully, you are in the minority.

Ducking the issue with sarcasm should be beneath you.

Actually, the easy answer is to choose to destroy the values this country was built on in order to attempt to ensure security. The hard questions involve trade-offs between values and risk.

A much overused quote from Benjamin Franklin has never been more true than today - Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

I don’t have a problem with someone kept awake for a couple of days or put under other similar stress to get them to tell me something that will save American lives. Our social fabric will not be irreversably torn because some people with criminal intent are being forced to talk. Do any of you really believe that because some people caught red-handed are being interrogated in Gitmo, that sooner or later it will happen to everyone?

Do you imagine a land of no more Miranda warnings, jail time without charges, and beatings at your local police precinct because someone bounced a check?

This is one time that real world pragmatism must take precedence over an intellectual ideal. As I have said before, we can climb back up on our pedastal when the people trying to kill us are dead.

How is that not dealing with a hard question? It’s fully answering a hard question. Just because it’s not the answer you would choose, does not mean it’s not an answer.

And as This Year’s Model rightfully points out, it seems like it’s lot easier to peel away civil liberties. Holding people indefinitely without charges on material witness warrants is a fuck of lot easier than having to find evidence on them and pressing charges.
