Conservatives - Where Is Your Outrage at Coulter?

If I may nitpick, it doesn’t come close.

Daniel

Sir, you piqued my interest. Alas, a Google image search for Anne Coulter naked is terribly disappointing. Cute terrier, though!

Try Michelle Malkin. Much more attractive, IMO. Now I dunno if any pictures of her nekkid actually exist out there, but I’d much rather see those than pics of Coulter.

Iranians aren’t Arab.

Same here. I don’t even know what station she’s carried on locally (if she is at all), nor do I care to know. Hard to get outraged at someone you don’t listen to in the first place.

Well, the National Review severed their ties with her years ago, and nearly all conservative commentators have denounced her remarks, as do I.

So it isn’t as if we aren’t doing this. It is just a question of whether some members of our movement haven’t gotten the word yet.

Given the vast number of wackos and lunatics who crop up on either side of the aisle from time to time, and attract some attention, I fear her ilk are just an unpleasant side effect of American politics, borne largely from the fact that parties can’t formally kick people out.

I thought they could, at least in some sense. Didn’t David Duke run as a Democrat first? Then the Dems kicked him out, or in some way repudiated him, and he ran as a Republican for whatever-it-was because you could list any party affiliation you wanted on the primary forms.

IIRC.

Shodan

She is getting to the point where the cigarettes are starting to show on her.

Geez folks, lighten up on Bricker. Do you stand outside of AA meetings to point and laugh at the first timers?

He’s taken a step that far too many conservatives, on this board and elsewhere, have yet to take. And I commend him for it.

Is CPAC a fringe group, a side effect? Honest question: I thought they were a pretty major conservative group. It seems vaguely akin to Farrakhan being the most popular speechifier at a Take Back America rally. (it took me awhile to come up with a figure that could be considered both liberal and even jokingly advocating racial violence on a scale similar to what Coulter does; if someone has a better suggestion for an analogy, I’m all ears).

Daniel

Well, this group was small enough to fit into a hotel ballroom.

Regards,
Shodan

Are you saying therefore that this isn’t a major event for conservative politicos?

Daniel

Is she? Ugh. That’s too bad.

If I may nitpick your nitpick, Shodan’s been way, way lower than that.

However, unlike Anne, he apologised, so I’ll have the decency not to link to it.

Had to be; it’s the annual bash of the American Conservative Union, billed as the “largest gathering of conservative political activists in the country”, and their featured speakers and panelists included

A glance at the agenda reveals dozens of other prominent figures too, including George Will, Bob Barr, Emmett Tyrell, Oliver North, several current and former Republican congresspeople, and Vice President Cheney. This is not some fringe group.

Isn’t Michelle Malkin the one who praised the Japanese internment camps? (Even though, being Filipeno, she probably would have been detained in one had she lived during that period).

I’m sorry, but I just have to ask… why does Filipeno = Japanese?

So… do you stand by this comparison, even after it’s been pretty effectively shown to be invalid for various reasons?

It doesn’t. But IIRC, wouldn’t Filipenos have been interned as well? (If I’m wrong, I appologize!)

I don’t see that anyone in this thread is being especially hard on Bricker, quite frankly.

As far as the sentiments he’s expressed in this thread are concerned, I agree with them wholeheartedly. Ann Coulter’s particular brand of hate has been given far too much legitimacy by organizations like CPAC and the Republican National Convention.
