Conservatives - Where Is Your Outrage at Coulter?

NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Oh God! Why? Why? Why?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
The SHAME! THE SHAME!

Pssssst, Scylla—I think that was your anguish. What the OP was looking for was your outrage.

Nice anguish, though.

I don’t think so, as the Philipenes were a US territory under occupation by hostile Japanese forces.

Jeez, people, it’s Phillipines, and Filipinos! Sorry, but that’s three posters in a row misspelling it. Stop the madness.

I new a phillipeeno from the filapeens once.

“Philippines”, actually.

(Gaudere’s Law strikes again! ;))

As I knew it would.

The hell of it is that Ann Coulter isn’t even the worst one out there.

G. Gordon Liddy has been palsy-walsy with the Republican party a lot longer than Ann Coulter. He gave a speech for Young Republicans to promote his book When I Was A Kid, This Was A Free Country (Catchy title, no?). He regularly speaks at universities, too.

At least Ann, for all her harridan posturing, is not a convicted criminal. Nor did she actually plan to kill Americans to save the country.

Hell, I used to be a republican, and by a few standards, I’m certainly conservative. I haven’t shifted my political views as much as the rest of the republican party moved three steps to the right when I wasn’t looking.

Cuz normal performance artists don’t make you shriek and roll into a fetal ball when they take their clothes off. I swear, if any Homo sapien looked like it should have tentacles under those threads, it’s Coulter.

Yes, precisely. There will always be ignorant asswipes out there. The problem with Coulter is that she’s turned being a shit into a lucrative career. She has a huge audience, her books do well, and she’s in great demand as a speaker.

Harper’s magazine has an article by Thomas Frank reviewing the idiot Bernie Goldberg’s One hundred people who are screwing up America. Half the people who are “screwing up America” are people with little or no power at all, whom few people have ever heard of. The radical right controls all the nation’s institutions now yet they continue to act as though they were a persecuted minority. Coulter, Goldberg, Savage, Hannity and their ilk perpetuate this myth to the Republican radical right’s great benefit, since it’s patently obvious that the ruling powers can’t govern worth shit. As long as they can get people to believe that it’s all the liberal’s fault, no one cares. Lost in the tirades is the fact that liberals have absolutely no power in today’s America. If America is having problems it’s the fault of those who actually have power.

There are plenty of good conservative ideas. I’m with the conservatives on some issues, notably national security, and I’m certainly not a leftist. Conservative ideas can be presented with clarity and reason in a civil manner. But why should conservatives do this when bellowing, insults and a querelous myth of persecution serve them so much better serve them so much better? I weep for this country sometimes.

Sorry about the slightly off topic tirade. That article really pissed me off.

I’ll concede that. However, that simply invites me to judge the entire Democratic Party (they aren’t a fringe group, are they?) by the fact that they had Al Sharpton address their national convention.

And I will posit that, measured against each other, Sharpton is far worse than Coulter. Her rhetoric hasn’t killed anyone in a subsequent riot, has it?

I’m perfectly happy to denounce her. I just wish he was given a similar cold shoulder.

Presumably just laying the groundwork so he can point to how ‘reasonable’ he is at his next rant against Libruls or Algore or whichever.

Let’s all start our countdown…

Ah. Thanks. My mistake.

I still think don’t like her defense of the camps, though.

Somehow, I didn’t really think you would turn into an internment camp proponent just because you can’t tell Asians apart.

While I agree in condemning Sharpton’s anti-Semitic rhetoric, that’s a pretty extreme stretch. Sharpton’s rhetoric didn’t kill anyone in the 1991 Crown Heights riots; the rioters themselves killed someone.

And, again without excusing Sharpton’s earlier hate- and slur-filled anti-Semitic remarks, I’ll note that he didn’t say anything like that in his address to the DNC in 2004, nor do I think the audience would have tolerated it if he had.

Coulter, on the other hand, uses offensive and incendiary remarks like the one quoted in the OP when she talks to mainstream conservative audiences at CPAC. And it apparently packs in the crowds, too.

Oh heavens, no. No doubt if Coulter apologized, all would be forgiven and forgotten, just like Nagin. And Trent Lott.

You are such a cynic. I can think of dozens of positions that Ann could take that would compel me to forgive her. Or at least pretend to for a few hours.

Al Sharpton actually ran for the Democratic nomination for president. What office has Ann Coulter ever ran for, besides “chief skank”? Really, these ridiculous comparisons of yours (see the 12 year-old Adlai Stevenson being compared to VP Cheney in another post) are not winning many converts.

Is this the answer to the eternal question?

“Does she take it up the bum?”

What?

Sure, if you don’t mind the knife-like cuts her hipbones would give you.

No thanks. My disgusting sexual fantasies involve women with a bit more substance, literally and figuratively.

Condi Rice, on the other hand…

Shodan

Mmmmmm . . . There’s no sex like angry sex, is there?
