Considering a name change...

Sometime this winter, I changed my IRC nickname from MsRobyn to Petirosa. It seems that MsRobyn is also used by a woman with, shall we say, some interesting hobbies.

So I’m thinking about changing my SDMB name to either Pettirossa, the full spelling, or to Aubergine because I like the way it sounds.

What say y’all?

Robin

Pettirosa is (apparently) Italian for “Robin.”

I like there to be some kind of meaning to a username, so I’ll vote for that.

Well, according to Google Translator, “Robin” in Italian is “Pettirossa”.

I don’t speak Italian. I was just looking for something pretty.

Robin

**Aubergine ** is amusing. It *does * sound a lot nicer than Eggplant.

Pettirossa, obviously, as I’m the one who thought up that name for you.

How about Something Pretty?

MsRobyn, I’m going to go against the crowd here and say: Keep your username!

I can’t recognize that many people by username on this board, but I do recognize you. I know I can’t be alone here. Forget what some other strange woman is doing to the name in other places – you’re the MsRobyn on SDMB and that’s just that!

I hate it when people I know change their user names. There are some I’ve “lost” forever because I never learn to associate the new name with the old one.

But, it’s YOUR name, so whatever.

Grr…how did I lose half a sentence? Make that:

I know I can’t be alone here in “knowing” someone and then losing them after they change their username.

Or, what John Carter of Mars said in between these two posts. :smack:

Add me to the “Keep your current name” list, but if you really want to change your name, I’d vote for Aubergine. Mainly because that would keep reminding me of the best song name ever, The Aubergine That Ate Rangoon. And how can you go wrong with that?
