After a few beers the other night my buddies and I got to talking about conspiracy theories… Of the two most interesting I have heard were:
1)The US govt has a “shadow” govt waiting to come in to power in case all of our top leaders were decapacitated in any ways. the leaders have already been chosen and know what rules to go by to rebuild our country.
the US has a cure for aids. They are not letting out the cure because the poor countries, where aids is a major factor, will expect it for free and our country will be looked down upon because we do not have the money to fund giving it to them. In the next few years, we will secretly let the secrets out to the french and english.
Can someone prove/disprove these theories, I have money riding on this… if someone helps, they may be entitled to a share of the profit
Yes, the US government does maintain a back-up for extreme situations - Shadow U.S. Government No conspiracy here.
As for your second point, I doubt the U.S. government has a cure for HIV and is withholding it for monetary reasons. IIRC, NO virus has a cure as of yet, I doubt HIV would be any different. There are several other countries which could have independantly come up with a cure, if it where possible.
And if we did have a cure, getting rid of HIV would be no more expensive or difficult than the eradication of small pox. Which was done without a cure, just a good vaccine. (Smallpox doesn’t mutate as rapidly as HIV, making a vaccine possible.) The money it would take to distribute an effective cure wouldn’t cost any more than the efforts the US is spending right now.
Actually, vaccines are another conspiracy theory in and of themselves, so I wouldn’t listen to Cthulhu, he’s up to something.
As for the shadow government, the question you should be asking is, “is the shadow government working to assert itself as the dominant power in the US?”
There is no economic benefit to the U.S. under the conspiracy you describe. Total US Spending on AIDS was $14 Billion in 2002 (this includes education, medicine and research).
Which comes out to about $333.33 per person per year from the U.S. alone – not mentioning International and Private stuff that nears the U.S. total … This will expenditure stay that high for a long time to come … even if the cure, [Meds + administration], were an exorbitant $3500 per AIDS victim it would still be cheaper for the U.S. and the world to do that than to run a hugely expensive sham AIDS program for a couple decades – especially if under the conspiracy the cure is in the hands of U.S. drug companies – all that money circulates home.
