...content not available in your country.

“your country” refers to Houston, Texas USA.

CNN video Kim Jong Il’s son found on Facebook? “Not available” in my country? What the fuck - did the DEA discover it had recreational potential?

I am so fucking angry. I don’t know how many individuals contributed to the conclusion that I didn’t need to see it, but it would give me great pleasure to watch them all diaf. Goddam. My country 'tis of thee indeed.

You can read the article here.

Meh, just some dorky kid with dyed hair. You didn’t miss much…if it’s “recreation” you want, try this one:

The Man with the World’s Biggest Penis

It’s an American of course, so you should be able to watch it.

Diddums. every second (well it seems like it) video/audiobook/phone app I want comes with that response (I live in Australia)

Maybe the nuttier Texans out there finally (re)achieved independence, and nobody noticed it? Or maybe CNN stands for “Confederate News Network” now?

Welcome to de República Independiente de Tejas, manito!

OP - use a proxy and stop whining.

Canada hereby mobilizes the Tiny Violin Symphony for the OP. :stuck_out_tongue:

The linked article has a link to a CNN International page. I think this is a link to the same video at the main, US CNN page.

Despite my fervent hopes that y’all in Texas really did leave, and take Ricky Perry with you, the problem is that you are trying to access CNN International. A website intended for viewing outside of the United States.

You can find the same content on CNN’s regular website: http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/world/2011/10/04/vassileva-kims-grandson.cnn

Try living outside the US. You get the same thing with a good 50% of videos and stuff you try to view.

This is really something that annoys me on a fundamental level. I mean, finally we have technology to overcome all limitations of location, transcend all borders, and what do we do? Create new ones. It’s really unbelievably, unbearably stupid.

Cool username/statement combo. With cheese.

Yup. Just about every damned thing that is linked to on the Dope here comes up with that message for Canadians (and I assume for people in countries other than the US as well). I’m not sure what the OP is complaining about - that stuff from the US is not available in the US? That the US gets the same treatment as the rest of us?

It’s all about the money, honey.

I get the same treatment if I try to access programs via the BBC iPlayer. I’ll bet I’d get the same thing if I tried to access content on a Canadian website.

Yes, interestingly, a lot of unbelievably, unbearably stupid things are. Come to think of it, a lot of unbelievably, unbearably stupid people are, too. As a tribute to my scientific education, I’ll now spend the rest of the evening singing ‘correlation does not equal causation’ to the tune of ‘Jingle Bells’*.

*I never had much of a musical education.

I absolutely agree.

You’re probably right, Dewey.

When people link to segments of the Daily Show or Colbert Report, Canadians get a nice friendly message saying that the content is available on the Comedy Network, complete with link. What drives me crazy, though, is that the link doesn’t go to the same content but rather the Comedy Network homepage. Not helpful.

Yup - those are probably the most irritating. I can’t go find it on Youtube if I don’t know what I’m looking for.

Yeah, but we’re Americans, dammit!
