Conversations with kids - a thoughtful, giggle-induced (and highly parenthetical) MMP

When I get home and can get to Facebook, I’ll show you the harpoon stretcher that’s available under “Politically Incorrect Gifts for EMTs”…

Well, it’s going to be an interesting afternoon. I’m just killing time until I head out for my next gig of the day. I’m going to be helping my mentor cater a party this afternoon. When I said yes I incorrectly assumed that it would include the usual large staff of (mostly) my friends and GilaMonster too. I was WRONG WRONG WRONG. It’s only going to be me, my mentor, and her over-the-top queen for the day, anyday, so-called friend. There are several scenarios to be played out. My mentor has severe knee and hip problems but she has to wait until she can get Medicaid or Medicare (I forget which) when she’s old enough and that won’t be for a couple more years. She, like me, has a long history of self-employment and can’t afford insurance. So, anyways, I completely understand that it will be necessary to pick up her slack. This is not a problem at all to me other than I was expecting there to be other slack picker-uppers around too. Then there’s that other woman. You know the one who is above it all and above everyone else too. She always demands and commands as if she were the one in charge and the authority figure (except she isn’t). I grow tired of her after about 10 minutes on a good day. So, since we’ve got one person who really can’t work and one person who believes it’s beneath her to work, guess who’s left?

I know, it’s a paycheck and it’s usually a pretty good one. I’ll quit whining now as I need to finish getting ready and head out the door.

Wow, bobbio, ol’ Broom Hilda sounds like a real gem…not.

My vacation is almost over.:frowning: I have to go back to work on Monday. I cannot believe how the time flew. I could really get used to this not working thing.

We had thunderboomers and lightening yesterday evening, along with hail and torrential downpours. On Monday, the temps climb back into the 80s. Go figure.

I have small errands to run today and that’s about it. I may treat myself to a pedicure too.

I also have my Wii Fit workout to do today, but that’ll wait until Mr. Taters gets home because we do it together.

I am pleased with my progress so far; my weight has come down, as has my BMI. While I don’t have rolls, or even much of a tummy, I do have weight to lose, plus I need to firm up. During my period of non-exercise, all my firmness went. Plus, I want to get back to where I was last summer. Here’s a picture:

http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=30037663&l=b783a0cb30&id=1404049232 I’m the one on the right, in the greenish shirt.

I don’t really look too much different from that now, but my clothes don’t fit like they used to and I feel…I dunno…uncomfortable.

I suppose I should clean myself up now and face the day.

Hi all! Thanks for the hugs and stuff.

Mr Rebo and I had a strange kind of date this morning. We both had doctor’s appointments, with the same doctor, at the same time! It just turned out that way. Weird. What was weirder was they took us both into the same examining room. The nurse took turns getting our vitals, and the doctor saw hubby first, then sent him out to get his labs done, and examined me.

The good news is we’re both doing fine! We had to fast for the bloodwork, so then we went to eat breakfast at Waffle House. There’s something to be said for togetherness. Then we went shopping at Penney’s - they were having a 70% off sale - I got a ton of stuff for about $100.

Bobbio - that sounds like a wild time! I’m glad you didn’t get injured. I can’t imagine having my sugar drop to the teens! Good on all of y’all for doing your jobs, even to the hopelessly ungrateful and stoopit.

Home early - my week+ from hell is over. YAY!

I med **FCD **for lunch at a Thai place - I was not impressed. One the way home, I passed a garbage truck (it was - I double checked) with a sign painted on the back: We cater weddings. It’s the only time I wish I had a cell phone with a camera.

That’s all I’ve got. TGIF.

I’ve just returned from having a pedicure. They are so relaxing; I just wish they lasted longer.

There isn’t much else going on. I guess I should get some chores done.

Joy oh joy, BART is going on strike this Sunday.

The good news is that I’m already telecommuting today, so I can just keep on telecommuting on Monday, and for however long the strike runs. The last strike lasted a week.

The bad news for everyone else is commute chaos. An advisory from our corporate communications group amused me:

(bolding mine)

Predictions are for miles of jammed up freeways from 6:00 to 10:00 in the morning and 3:00 to 7:00 in the evening. Of course, our freeways are usually jammed up from 6:30 to 9:30 and 3:30 to 6:30, so it’s not that big of a change. :smack:

Howdy Y’all! Been Bizzy! Work and such ya know.

Just zoomin’ by…

{{{puggy}}} keepin’ ya in my thoughts and prayers and crossin’ appropriate/inappropriate appendages.

Sorry about the co-worker’s mom Rebo. How sad! :frowning:

BBBobbio the Broom Hilda story is … ummmmm… well… glad it’s you and not me. :stuck_out_tongue:

Happy Hubby Time mmmmmmmmmmm’s!

Just so y’all know, this next week I will probably be scarce. 'Twixt work, churchy stuff, couple appts with the doc and dentist (all routine) and the need to sleep, eat and bathe, it’s gonna be a bizzy one.

Hugs, yays, boos, trouts, chitlins, gropes, how you doin’s. Distribute as needed.

So I guess this means swampy won’t be getting us started on Monday…

Anyone interested?

Back later with responses to stuff. Need to have din-din first.

GT

OK, who’s never started the MMP? Time to pop that cherry!!

ok - who killed the thread?

::glares at FCM::

Sorry - I should remember that when I show up, people just stand in awe…

A::Stands::WE

this stupid thing in my throat - I cannot sleep - and if I do sleep - I dream about coughing. Feh!

I’m going to be in transit (London-Glasgow, then pick the keys, then drop off the luggage, then go get food, then…) so no MMP from me the day after tomorrow.

Did I mention I’m flying off tomorrow night?

Up way too early. My bladder woke me at 3:30 and I noticed **FCD **had moved to the guest room. His back has been bothering him something awful and sometimes the other mattress helps. Apparently last night it didn’t.

Anyway, I couldn’t fall back to sleep. I even tried watching TV, but at that hour, nothing’s on but infomercials, reruns of COPS and Three’s Company, and idiot commentators on the 24-hr news channels. At 5, I turned it off again and dozed off till Scruffy got me up at 7. So I’m up.

**FCD **and daughter are going to build some storage units for her new classroom, so they’re off to Lowe’s for plywood. Once I finish reading my comics, I’m going to haul the last of the dirties downstairs and do laundry. Good times…

<yawn>

You’re going somewhere, Nava? I had no idea! :p:D

Hope your throat feels better soon, rosie!

Sorry about the extra-early rising, FCM.

I need to get some laundry done, too and then get some work done…

Back later…

GT

I know, gt, I really need to stop doing these things without warning!

Can somebody explain to me the logic behind “let the house air until it’s 32C outside, then close it tight and start the A/C, which is set at 25C only because Nava threatened with general dismemberment of relatives if it got set at 20ºC”? I just don’t get it. Do y’all think that signing said relatives for a string of college-level Thermodinamics and Energy-Transfer courses might help?

Ugh. I got to TVLand at about 11:00 last night after about 14 hours straight of working. I’ll have to admit I had a pretty good time last night. But standing for so long is hard and exhausting. Once I got here I tried to go to sleep. It was too hot in the the bedroom upstairs so I relocated to the couch, but couldn’t get comfortable there. Then after TVMan woke up and it had cooled off some more I went back upstairs and slept a couple of hours. So I’m pretty tired right now. And I’m hungry and there’s nothing to fix for breakfast here. Anyone want to email me a donut or something?
ETA: My mother watches alot of NCIS and generally my choices are either watch it with her or go to another room that is less comfortable and less suitable to my needs at that particular moment. So, I end up watching alot of it too. Anyways, recently I’ve somehow come to decide that if I ever met Nava in person that she would be alot like Ziva (I mean this in a good way as Ziva has a lot of spunk and doesn’t take any crap from anyone). And so you can conclude from this that I watch too much tv and read the Dope too often. :stuck_out_tongue:

Nava, the only thing I’ve figured out with regard to A/C is that logic doesn’t enter into it. EVER! And when you toss heating in winter into the equation, it becomes even more insane. The same people who insist on 66°F in the summer will whine and complain if it drops below 80°F in the winter.

Face it, they’re all nuts. You and I may be the only logical beings left, and I’m not all that sure about you…

Off to do laundry. I gotta turn this damned machine off or it’ll distract me. Back later, maybe.
