**Taters **-- I’m with you on getting back from vacation.
And instead of ramping back up to speed gradually, of course there’s a deskload of stuff that nobody else could do while you were gone!! ZOMG!!!
I always feel like I need a couple days rest after vacation…
Did you? I don’t remember. Well, maybe you mentioned it once.
Or 7 times.
Or something like that
No.
Well, at least it might keep them out of the house while they’re busy going to lectures…
Count me in as another one who doesn’t get the air conditioning thing.
Well, I’ve devoured toast with PB & banana, some blueberries with yogurt and need to finish of my cafe con leche (pretend there’s an accent on that e in cafe back there; I’m feeling lazy this morning).
I didn’t sleep much either. I’m ready to get some laundry out of the way, then I need to get some writing done for work. Still debating whether to work at home, at the library, at the coffee shop or at work… I’ll probably wind up doing all of the above in the course of the weekend. Ick. I’ve got LOTS of writing and editing to do.
I’m up and about, the coffee is done, and now I just need to try and wake up.
I don’t get the whole A/C thing either. Personally, I really don’t like it, but must admit it’s nice to have sometimes. Unfortunately, I don’t have it in my house, so I can’t ever control the A/C setting. Everywhere I go, it’s set too cold for my taste.
My husband likes the temp cranked up in the winter; I hate it. I say if you’re cold, put on a sweater. There is no reason for the temp to be cranked so high you’re uncomfortable. Besides, it’s expensive.
Breakfast is coffee. I have some yogurt in the fridge, but am not hungry.
Actually, I am one of those guys who likes it a bit on the cool side (more like 22C or so – not “as cold as the A/C will get it!”)
I’m usually too hot indoors during the winter – and there’s not a damn thing I can do about it. I generally think that temps should be set to be comfortable for those who like it a it on the cool side (I’m not talking about the outliers who probably had penguins for ancestors) – both when cooling and heating – and let the others dress appropriately.
Special 1, I don’t whine about the A/C. It wouldn’t do any good in a public place anyway. I always have a sweater on hand.
However, in the winter, I feel like I can’t breathe if the heating is set too high. I’m perfectly content with about 68 degree Farenheit. I think that’s reasonable.
I am so with you about the over-warming in winter!
Especially since we don’t really have a winter. Look, it’s 70 F* degrees outside. With a whole butt-load of people in the office/store/whatever, it’s even warmer inside. Kindly turn off the Fires of Hell and, I dunno, maybe turn on the A/C or something?
Same here. I like my surrounding air cool and then put a sweater, or better yet, snuggle under a blanket. I keep my house around 65F tops in the winter!
Yes. I can always warm up–I cannot get cooler in heat. I hate heat of any kind. We do have the AC on today because it’s 89 and humid out. Fine by me, but usually I dislike AC, too–it does weird things to my sinuses.
God help me, I just agreed to go with Daughter to the mall. I loathe the mall. I have no spending money at present; I hate crowds and I am starting to really disapprove of the consumer mindset --gimme, gimme, spend, spend, spend-- I see around me. Oh, people are still spending, they just bitch about it now. I am sick to death of people complaining about money and then going out and getting X because “they just had to have it” (not talking about medical stuff or repair stuff here, folks). In fact, I’m in a pissy mood all around.
Ok, maybe I need more sleep…
Sorry to harsh everyone’s mellow here. I’ll go away now and do some deep breathing exercises. I MUST remember that Daughter will not be here soon (and I will miss her) and so doing some things that she likes to do is a Good Thing.
(but Christ, it’s the mall…) <need anguished smiley here>
I freeze everybody out, too. I hate being hot! They recently put lock boxes over the thermostats at work. So now it’s 60° in the morning and 80° in the afternoon! Ugh.
I’ve been to the dog park, and washed the dogs and myself. Now I’m resting. It’s HOT out there! C’mon fall…
We’re going out to eat tonight to Pappadeaux’s - a cajun seafood place. Yummmmm…
But…but… My NOSE gets cold. I CANNOT put a sweater on my nose. (Yes, I am being serious.) If our house were set at 65F I would be miserable because once my nose gets cold the rest of me does too. Besides, it wouldn’t work anyways because my grandparents live in the basement and we’d freeze them out!
Howdy Y’all! Home from work and it’s the WEEKSTART!!! YAY!!!
Ummmmmmm… gt I did last week’s mmp. I did not sign up for next week. Just so ya know.
Ok, this is one thing ol’ y’all know who and me will never argue about. The thermostat. It’s 78 in the summer with ceiling fans and if needed, floor fans runnin’. It’s 68 in winter and it’s comfy. Sweatpants, a tshirt and a comfy robe are just right durin’ winter with the thermostat at 68. We keep both places just like that. Ok, we’re cheap but still it’s comfy in summer and winter at both caves.
Subway is makin’ dindin tonight. Ol’ y’all know who is out and about runnin’ some errands and is pickin’ sammiches up. Sounds good to me! I am havin’ me an ice cold beerverage.
**Pie **- I get the cold nose *and *cold fingers. It’s tough at work - kinda hard to type with my hands tucked in my armpits…
I quit. I couldn’t do anything right in my studio. I broke one of the cats and a cat head. Plus I just couldn’t figure out a better way to make the cat heads. I don’t like the ones I’ve made. I just don’t know. <sigh>
I really don’t want to go to my class tonight. We’ll be doing the raku firing of the pots we did 2 weeks ago. I’m just not in the mood to handle pots at 1800°F. I foresee disaster…
I have bambilance duty tonight with Harold sans Katy. Will it be a butt-picker, or a no doze? Broom Hilda once more? If there’s a good story from it, I’ll let y’all know.
I always thought it was cold feet, warm heart. I am the champion of cold feet in the winter. This sucks. My mean ol’ hubby won’t let me put them on him in bed at night so I can warm them up. So, I end up sleeping in a position where I can tuck my feet in the crook in the back of my leg to warm them up.
I get cold hands at work. You’re right, **FCM, **it is difficult to type when your hands feel numb and frostbitten.
Nobody on Earth does air-conditioning right for me. I like it cool in the Summer - 75F or below - and in the Winter…
I leave the heat and AC off.
See, during the winter, I’m always cooking or cleaning or relaxing. If I’m cooking, I’m around hot stoves and ovens, and they keep me warm. If I’m cleaning, the work keeps me warm. If I’m relaxing, I’m always surrounded by electronic gadgets - TV’s, computers, video game consoles, etc - and the heat they give off keeps me warm. And if I’m still cold while doing any of the above, I can always put on more clothes or wrap up in my massive collection of blankets.
Plus, cold encourages cuddling, and I love cuddling!
I hate hot weather though. There’s no limit to how many blankets I can wrap up in, or how many layers of clothes I can wear to warm up… But there IS a limit to how many layers of clothes I can take off to get cool!
For those with cold fingers, there are: fingerless gloves. They also come in about one million variations that are kind of like topless mittens.
So, knitting is almost like work, right? ::Looks around for nods of agreement:: I just started a really cute scarf.
At least the laundry is done.
Now I’m going for a walk and then I’ll start working on the proposal that needs to be written by Monday morning. Can you tell how much I’m looking forward to continuing work on it?
