Conversations with kids - a thoughtful, giggle-induced (and highly parenthetical) MMP

I have a couple pairs of fetching that I love to wear when its cool and my hands are cold but I need to use them.

I should be knitting… well, cleaning then knitting. I’m TRYING to finish a shawl so I can work on the next one. This one is about 75% done, maybe more, and I like to knit it I just don’t have TIME. Bah.

koff koff - still

Well, that sucks **rosie. ** I hope it passes quickly.

I’m thirsty! I’ve had about 3 glasses of water already. I’m going to regret this at bedtime.

Am back from the mall. I had a lovely time with Daughter–we even went out to dinner afterwards.

The mall was still the Hell it always is, but we had fun anyway.
I am now coloring my hair to rid myself of gray. I am vain and shallow like that.

Speaking of hair coloring… I have a question.

I have a birthmark in the form of a shock of white hair on the back of my head. I love it, it looks cool. In order to accent, accompany, and draw attention to it, though, I want to get my hair streaked with white. I don’t care how. Unfortunately, my natural color is dark brown; so I’m not sure how to add white.

Any suggestions? Dye? Hair… Extensions or weaves or whatever? Something else? I dunno, I’m a college guy, I know nothing about hair besides “wash it daily”. So, any ideas?

Home, exhausted, and very stinky. I’ve got 3 new pieces to share - the glazes are pretty cool on 2 of them. I’ll post pics after I scour them. The raku process involves putting the red-hot pots into cans of sawdust, then covering them and allowing them to cool in a reduction environment. They’ve been hosed off, but Ray said a brillo pad or a scotch brite would take the rest of the ash residue off.

Right now, they’re outside, because they stink worse than I do. I don’t know what kind of sawdust we used, but it was mighty ick. And there was no breeze, so the smoke just hung in the air. I need a shower.

So, I’m going to have a shower, then crash.

MWAH!!

The basement tackled back. But we won.

I wanna be

First on 6.

And now I am.

My advice: get thee to a salon and ask a professional colorist. Ask your GF or sister for advice on which salon to go to. Trust me, lots of guys go to salons, especially in college towns. This is something that you can fuck up royally and look ridiculous or get it right and look faboo, baby! I wouldn’t just go do it–get pro advice.

Hair now colored and highlighted and is drying, slowly. I have managed to waste an entire evening doing this and playing Bejeweled.

Miss me? Work was OK. I helped with a research pub crawl tonight. The things I do for my Club. I keep it at 75 in the summer, and 67 in winter. I’m a miser except for when it comes to beer, dog food, or hockey.

Yay for your victory, Soapy!

I hope your throat feels better soon, rosie

Pie, I’d be happy to warm your nose for you.

Anyone hear from Nava recently? It’s like she just flew off somewhere.

BURMA-SHAVE

doggio, you crack me up - Burma Shave indeed. Altho, don’t they have to change the name to Myanmar Shave now??

Up way too early, thanks to a couple of psycho felines. Taz started it by climbing on the support above the shower doors - doggone he makes a racket when he does that!! Then he came to the bed for skritches. Ziva followed, being a brat, trying to steal Taz-skritches. Afterwards, she attacked the evil shapes under the bedspread, AKA my feet. Somewhere in there, Bernie started panting loudly, and I knew sleep was lost. So dogs have been out and fed, cats are now curled up somewhere quietly, the rest of the household is asleep, and here I am…

Two or three loads of laundry today, and I’m going to try some more clay play. Maybe some knitting. And some relaxing. I might even crawl back into bed, but probably not.

Oh well, Happy Sunday!

Along the Lincoln Highway in Western Ohio they have Burma Shave signs. It’s awesome!

Here in Northeastern Ohio this morning my laptop is D-E-A-D. It will not stay running for more than about 30 seconds. I do have an extended warranty, however, this will involve shipping it off to Best Buy for the usual MONTH that it takes for repairs. Yuck.

Oh well, life carries on.

Up, caffeinated, off to work.

FCM, Myanmar sounds like a brand of house insulation.

Definitely going to the doc tomorrow for some antibiotics

Picked up the boy from camp. He had a great time! Said three weeks was too short. I was really worried that he would have fun as he tends to be reserved. Sounds like he had a blast. He was hugging people good bye and gave me and his dad a big hug hello.

It’s so nice to have him back!

Second load of laundry in the machine. Miracles of miracles - SIL is out in the garage helping his wife and FIL build storage cabinets for her classroom. He turned off his computer!!

I followed my instructor’s advice and took a scouring pad to my ceramic pieces - it did make a difference. Raku is interesting, but I still don’t know that I’d want to do it as a matter of course. Still, building a raku kiln is fairly easy - starts with a metal garbage can, and it costs less than $500, so I may do one eventually. But I’d have to buy raku clay and glazes - the stoneware stuff that I use won’t cut it.

Meanwhile, I think I’ll mix up a mega-batch of raisin bran muffins. I bought the ingredients, so why not??

After I finish my jigsaw puzzle, of course.
