Conversations with kids - a thoughtful, giggle-induced (and highly parenthetical) MMP

Good morning everyone. I am up after a late night out at a friend’s house for dinner and conversation. We had a great time.

We’ve also been invited to Hawaii in October. They have a place that sleeps six, so all we would need to worry about is airfare and kicking in for food.

We’re waiting on an email about what flight they’re on, and we’re going to try and book the same flight.

I’ll tell you a secret…I’ve never been to Hawaii. Mr. Taters is thrilled as he’s never been either, and is even willing to grin and bear flying. You see, he’s afraid of flying.

I am nervous about spending the money of course, but this is quite an opportunity for us and it would be far less expensive than if we tried going ourselves.

Moonie, I second the advice about going to a salon. Home kits can seriously jack your hair up.

I’m glad your son had fun, Soapy. When I was a kid, I loved summer camp so much I didn’t want to go home.

Grab that opportunity with both hands Taters, and get some valium for Mr T (heh- remember his character on the A-Team? also hated flying)

**Taters **- my mom hates *hates ****hates ***to fly, but she’s managed to make at least 4 trips to Europe, and most recently she flew to Orlando for my kid’s wedding. It’s amazing how one can overcome a fear under the right circumstances… I’m not afraid of flying, mostly, but I just don’t like the whole ordeal of airlines and airports. However, for a trip to Hawaii, I’d deal.

Don’t forget to bring us all souvenirs!!

Third load of laundry is in. Daughter and I are headed to JoAnn’s.

Laterz!!!

Flying doesn’t bother me; what I hate is all the security crap and waiting. I also hate crowded flights. But the flying part itself, doesn’t bother me at all; I just look out the window and enjoy the scenery, or if I have a nice seatmate, chat with them occasionally.

I’m still waiting on the email from our friend to see what flight they’re on. I’ve already checked with the particular airline they’re flying and have an idea of what it’ll cost us. I’m not overly thrilled about that aspect of it, but one has to bite the bullet sometime, I guess.

My son has drive number two for driver’s ed scheduled for today. He informed on Friday, after his first drive with the school, that he’s “a driving god”.
I guess he did very well and the instructor told him he did, but still, I don’t want him getting all cocky because that can lead to serious mistakes.

Another teenager with a license? Oy!

I’ve been to church, helped out with some plant stuff, been to the grocery and am now eating a lovely lunch of ham sandwich on toast with a bunch of veggies, chopped veggie sandwich, and some blueberries mixed with mandarin oranges.

Going in to work in a bit because the working at home part wasn’t working out.

Back later.

koff

I initially read that as koffkoffkoffkoffkoffHOINK :eek::eek:

Heh, same happening here tomorrow (although he will only have been gone for 10 days.)

Enjoy 'em while they last…

And right next door to you, too! :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s only Sunday (read: Monday) And I already feel like I’ve been through a wringer at work. I can haz Thursday* plz!?

  • read: Friday…

more like several hundred miles away

Erm, more like a few *thousand *miles away. I’m clear out here in Washington state.

I’ve managed to wake up sufficiently enough to shower. I need to dry my hair and put my face on, but then I’ll be good to go.

Today is my Dad’s birthday. I already called him to wish him a happy birthday and he informed me he doesn’t have birthdays anymore. I then amended my greeting to Happy Special Day!

I really don’t feel like running around today, but I’ll have to take my son to driver’s ed and back again, plus I’m sure there are a couple of other things I need to tend to.

Sigh…back to work tomorrow. My vacation has come to an end. Boo-hiss. It was sooooo nice not having to go to work. Who wants to be my benefactor and support me in the style to which I’ve become accustomed?

off to (try to) sleep through the heat of the afternoon koff

Eh, Washington State; Washington DC. Same difference… :stuck_out_tongue:
Then again, what does a furriner like me know, anyway?

Three hours until Quasi-Daughter’s party. I’m packing and wondering why we have so much stuff.
Also, someone in our apartment building stole Mr. Lissar’s new (2 weeks old) bike. We are pissed. It wasn’ty even a particularly good or expensive bike, and our building has always been friendly. Grr.

I feel qualified to answer this question… Because raisins are GROSS!!!
In other news, after two trips to Best Buy my laptop has been sent out for repair.

Oh good Lord! Never confuse us with Washington D.C.!

**Li-Li, **that sucks. I hate thieves.

Howdy Y’all! I have done… nothing all day! Didn’t even go to church. It was snooze time this mornin’. Luckily I did wake up in time to have an afternoon nap.

We have seriously lazed and vegged. We were gonna go out to the pool but never made it. Sometimes the only thing to do is be a slug. Ok, I did grill some hotdawgs. I guess that counts as somewhat productive.

I think I’ll have me a beerverage and watch the storm that appears to be comin’ up. We had a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig one yesterday.

Later Y’all!

Back from JoAnn’s and a few other stops. I took the clothes off the line - I LOVE the smell of sun-dried sheets!

Not motivated to clay, so I’ll be knitting, methinks. Lazy day. Oh yeah…

What? I just took the bike out for a spin to the library to get books for my bedridden mother! Jeesh–some people are just sooo cynical and untrusting…
Hope you find the bike (not likely, but…)
Am back from grocery shopping and Target. It’s hotter than f*ck out there and the clouds are building. I hope we get rain–we haven’t had any for some weeks now. I have done 99% of what I set out to do today, and am thinking of back-burnering the rest. Seriously: #2 son’s room has waited this long to be vacuumed, surely it could wait until Tuesday? Anyone? Bueller?

Stay cool and well rested, folks. The work week starts again tomorrow. Blech.

Laundry is laundered, groceries are groced, and I had a wonderful little nap.

Tonight’s repast shall be grilled poke chops with a nectarine salsa, rice pilaf, and steamed speargrass. Yum!

We went Pappadeaux’s last night - so yummy! I had a grilled tilapia filet with a lump crabmeat and shrimp topping. Man, I love good food.

See y’all on the flip side!

Supper was OK. Van is dropped off at the shop for an oil change and what I hope is a cheap repair to get rid of a noise in the rear. I finished yet another helmet liner. Two more, and **MamaTigs **will be getting a box from me.

Why is my weekend over already, dammit! We are not amused.
