The expression in Spanish is “partaking of marriage benefits.” And no, it’s not Thursday quite yet. I’ll toast to your health and continued benefits when it is, though!
'Ullo, all.
Many happy returns of the Day, Dotster.
I am about to go to the doctor for my follow up. I am contemplating riding my bike, given that it’s down the street and around the corner from my house, but I feel the eternal pull of lethargy calling to me…
Hope all are well. I read the OP (which I found to be quite funny–someday we must have sparkling conversation together, GT!), but I ddin’t read the rest. What can I say? The Lethargy Beast has got me by the throat.

HAPPY BIRFDAY, DOTSTER!!!
Happy Birthday, Dotty!!!
I managed to escape less late than I’d expected today - just worked an hour over instead of 2.5 over, so yay! Chickie is rotissin’, N.O.T. are boilin’ before mashin’, and sugar snap peas will round out the meal.
I went to bed before 8 yesterday, and I think I was asleep before 8:10. I felt better this morning, so yay for that! And rumor has it that those of us who worked all weekend will get Friday off this week. <fingers crossed>
That’s all I’ve got for now. Welcome, newcomers. You may present me with the requisite Chocolate Love Offerings any time now.
Dindin leftovers were good. Just thought I’d report in on that.
Since I have lots of smoked chicken, I have decided that whatever is eaten the rest of this week will involve smoked chicken. I made a big ol’ green sallit and shall slice up chicken boobs over it for sallits. Tomorrow, I may make some of it into chicken sallit cause smoked chicken makes good chicken sallit.
Today, I managed to work only one hour overtime. This shall be my goal the rest of the week, even though, if TPTB had their way, it’d be twelve hour days all around. Like that’s gonna happen! It ain’t my fault they got all slack in hiring and training and now are faced with a shortage of folks. You have to plan for attrition in a place like that. It should be a given that a good 40% of customer service reps will not last the first six months. It’s just fact. Duh! I do QC stuff and we’re bein’ slammed too. Quit slackin’ TPTB and go recruit.
It’s all cloudy out. Looks stormy in the distance. I hope there’s thunderboomers all night. I sleep so good when we get tstorms durin’ the night.
I’ve managed just about a half hour extra today. After a long lunch. Considering we’re supposed to put in an extra hour a day M-Th to earn our half-day Firdays, that’s not so good. But… ugh. I’ve had as much as I can take for today!
Plus, it’s sunny and in the 80s and perfect pool weather. Who really expects me to work until 6??
I am sitting in my car waiting for Trivia time to get here
only 24 minutes to go
OK, cooking peoples, why would a fresh-never-frozen chicken be really tough even tho it was cooked properly? We had a terrible time cutting it apart, and much of the meat didn’t want to come off the bones. I’ll be boiling the leftovers for soup, but doggone, I’ve never had a chicken come out like this one. It tasted OK, I guess, but something wasn’t right.
Off to load the dishwasher. And maybe knit…
Hi.
I know what’s happening with Kaiwik. She’s gonna elope with a tall, dark Canadian Mountie…

Stop buying chickens from the magician’s supply shop.
It took them long enough - we finally got the “We’re advising our attorneys to begin foreclosure proceedings…” letter yesterday.
I had terrible insomnia last night and was up until 7:00am. I slept til 2pm, did a little cleaning, then went with a friend to Best Buy and discovered that going to them to build your own computer is a total waste of time. They don’t have motherboards! Or CPU’s! Or DDR3 RAM cards (Just DDR2, and with slow-as-molasses clock speeds nonetheless…)! Or any decent tower cases! Or high-end graphics cards! Or ANYTHING!
Well, OK, they have hard drives and CD/DVD readers/writers/burners. But those were overpriced anyway.
Currently crashing in the beanbag chair. Dinner was homemade pizza, and it was tasty.
Mooooooooom, you really should let your chickens cross the road. Tire treads make excellent meat tenderizers.
Thanks, **Bobbio **- that’s helpful…
I’s tahred - I’m off to bed. Kisses all around!
rigs: sounds good.
Did I thank people properly for sharing stories? I find them all highly entertaining. Nice to see new faces as well as occasional Mumpers stop by.
Hi snowbunny! Nice to see you stop by. And say hi to Mama T. I really miss hearing updates from her.
Boo on the car repairs, but glad they’re better.
I have no answer on the tough chicken, FCM. I’ve never had that problem, but I tend to poach chicken to the point where it’s almost falling apart.
Hi Soapy!
I’d advise finding threads on building your own computer, Moonie. There are lots of Dopers who have done that before. I know I’ve seen quite a few threads asking for advice and sharing experiences. And yeah, I’m willing to bet not a one of them mentioned Best Buy as a source for parts.
It’ll be Thursday very soon, mmmmmmmmm.
I’ve been working on a sash for a big ol’ shawl I finished over the weekend. I wrapped the shawl around my shoulders and immediately felt like a sash would be practical, so I’m doing another sampler. I’ve done a 2x2 rib, seed stitch, cable fabric, a spiral rib and stockinette stitch so far. It’s kinda fun.
I seem to be eating very simple all veggie and fruit dinners lately. Tonight I had corn on the cob, a small baked potato with pesto (very yummy) and some figs. It was teh yum. I’m considering chocolate for dessert, although I had quite a bit of chocolate at work today.
Also, I’m sleepy. Maybe I’ll just crawl into bed and worry about chocolate in the morning.
Why can’t it be the weekend already?
GT
FCM, are you sure that this was, in fact, a fresh chicken? (Perhaps it was frozen and/or old.) This doesn’t necessarily answer your question, but I’ve noticed when boiling chicken that if the chicken starts out frozen that it is generally tougher and drier when it has finished cooking.
Oh, I know exactly what I want to get…
[Spoiler]- XCLIO Windtunnel full-tower case,
The problem is just that Best Buy doesn’t have ANY of those, except the Hard Drives and the CD Drives. But at least the guy at the counter new what I was talking about and was able to tell me what they did and did not carry without even having to check.
Wait… Gotti’s getting foreclosed? What? o.0
Sorry Gotti about the foreclosure- I’ve been out of touch for a bit- have you started the move yet?
I’m lonely. My hubby is off on a business trip.
I wanna be 1st on 3
