Conversations with kids - a thoughtful, giggle-induced (and highly parenthetical) MMP

Good morning everyone.

I’m sorry about the foreclosure, gotti.

**kai, **wow…just wow.

I have errands to run today. I need to take the son to pick up his repaired “good” paintball gun, and to Borders. I have to run the daughter back and forth to work, and I have a couple of other places to stop as well.

I can’t believe it’s already Wednesday. I’ve been loving not having to go to work, but Monday seems to be coming really, really, really fast.

I’ve got nothing else exciting going on. Just the usual. I need more coffee.

{{kai}}

{{gotti}}

That’s all I got for now.

Trying to stay awake… clearly I am getting old(er), because once upon a time I’d have been able to party until the wee hours, sleep for an hour or two, and then go to work for a full shift without any trouble. However, much fun was had by all and I’d do it all over again tonight if I could.

**Kai **-- Um, wow. Just wow :frowning: {{{}}}

Gotti – Hope things look up after you move to the right-hand coast :slight_smile:

Me, I got nuttin’…

::: zoooooooooooommmmmmm::

:: flings hugs and kisses ::

Not at all - mostly for the very simple reason that the band does not alter the natural physiology of digestion; less of an impact on my decision, but significant nonetheless - my malady makes me a less than ideal candidate for something that invasive. The band was put in laproscopically.

Wow lots o’ happenin’s up in here today! Where to begin even!

kai you’re life is one big roller coaster ain’t it! :smiley: Yay on visitin’ the grandchild and impendin’ birth of the new one. Good luck with the surgery. You’ll be in my thoughts and prayers. Sorry about Skiffman though I know it’s one of those things that’s been comin’ on for a long time. Have fun with Harley guy, whether or not he turns out to be the one, it can still be fun!

gotti I know all about the foreclosure and stuff but it still sucks. Here’s hopin’ life gets better once y’all make the big move east. Heck, maybe we’ll even figure out a way to meet and say howdy.

mmmmmmmmm’s I can’t exactly figure out why, but you do seem to be all excitated about sump’n. Whatever could it be! :stuck_out_tongue:

BioRosie seems like I knew but maybe didn’t remember the lapband surgery. Glad it went ok and is workin’ for ya so far. YAY!!!

MOOOOOOM sometimes a “fresh” chicken ain’t exactly “fresh”. That’s about all I got on that.

{{{Soapy}}} Embrace the quietness while it lasts. They’ll all be back soon enough.

Everybody else, yays, boos, hugs, noogies, trouts, chitlins, how you doin’s. Distribute as needed.

Oh, dindin report. Tonight it shall be fresh corn on the cob, fresh maters, fresh steamed broccoli and warmed up smoked chicken boobs. I predict much numminess and perhaps “appreciation.” :smiley:

Gotti, all I can say is thank goodness you have each other. That is an awful lot to go through. {{hugs}}

Things just got hectic at work. It was really quiet for a couple days, and now suddenly we have five “OMG THIS HAS TO BE DONE RIGHT NOW!!!1!11!!!” projects. Which will make it easier to put in the extra hours this week, but I’ve got a pool party planned for Firday afternoon, and I need to clean and cook before then! At least it’s just a few coworkers, so if I don’t have time to get anything done, we’ll just grab some sandwiches and hang out. They’re just excited to have a pool to hang by on a hot summer afternoon.

But really, when it rains, it pours at work.

Yay for grandbabies, kai. Good luck with surgery. And I hope relationship things work out. But TN is very far from kids and grandkids!

{{gotti}} I know you knew the foreclosure was coming, but that can’t make it any easier to actually get the letter.

Many hugs being sent your way, kai, and your in my thoughts as well. Hope all goes well with the baby and your surgery. You’ve sure got a full plate! Again, many hugs.

Mmmms must be about to burst - I think Hubby gets there tomorrow! :slight_smile: Have a great vacation! :slight_smile:

Went back to the pool, am really trying to keep up with this plan. Feels very good to do, too!

Woo hoo for hump day, three down, two to go until the weekend–how about them apples?! :slight_smile:
Rosie’s sig all around, I am a bit pooped tonight. :smiley:

herbs for those of us who countdown until the weekstart it’s two down and three to go. :stuck_out_tongue: At least three hours of tomorrow are taken up with training and team meeting. Yeah, I know, YAWN but to me that’s screw off time since I am infamous for not payin’ attention and yet still learnin’ stuff. :smiley:

Dinddin was tres yum! Now I shall go extract my “appreciation” for it. :wink:

Nitey Nite Y’all!

Wow, kai, that’s major news! I’d forgotten about the surgery - hope everything goes really well! And yay on the impending grandson! And the biker…cool! As swampy said, if nothing else, have fun!

Sorry again about the house, gotti. It still makes me sad that you have to leave. Every time I hear anything about people who are upside down I think about both of you and listen to see if there’s anything new that could keep you in California.

Glad you’re both at the end of your countdown, **mmmmmm **and Nava (how come we don’t have a nickname for you?).

Pool party sounds like fun, taxi.

We’ll have to get together for dinner sometime, Puggy and have an all-fruit -and-veggie menu. :smiley:

Guess I’ll have din-din and relax and then see what, if anything, I feel like doing.

Hugs all around.

GT

I was going to come in here and whine, but then I read gotti’s post and decided that a day off that didn’t turn out to be great is not worth whining about… Hang in there.
Work as an RN tomorrow. Yippee. Not.
Off to do more stuff.

OK, I’m home after a 12-hour workday. I’m exhausted and burned out. And I’ve got to be there 6:30 in the morning. Still no word on whether we get Friday off or not, but rumor has it this little “project” will run at least 30 days. Yup, I’m tired.

There’s a lot I should say, but I can’t manage it. So, kissy kissy huggy huggy gropey-grope all around. I’m going to have some ice cream…

gotti, I’m really sorry about the foreclosure.

kai… wow. Good luck with the surgery. And everything. My life is so boring
I’ve been abandoned by all the Husbands. Should I tidy before Mr. Lissar gets home, or should I lie around on the couch reading?

{{{Gitti and kai}}}

Hope things turn up for you guys.

The talk of car repairs reminds me I need to find a new mechanic. My old mechanic is no longer there (the whole place is gone, currently it’s a giant muddy hole in the ground) and I don’t know if he moved to a new location or is out of the business all together.

And of course my car is leaking power steering fluid. My BFF’s husband looked at it and told me to fix it it will have to get up on a hoist and he can’t do that. Something about the hose being behind the engine. I keep topping it with stop leak (it’s not a horrible leak, but steady) and it’s fine but it’s annoying and feel utterly Earth-unfriendly.

I have no idea how much that will cost to fix either (can’t be much though, right?) Need to do that and she’ll be fine again. Really, if that’s the worst of it for a 20 year old car I’m perfectly happy.

Ugh. Why does my iPhone charge, but not sync, when I hook it up to my 'puter?

Humph.

does iTunes recognize it?

I just took a call from Doug the B&B neighbor. He was having an orgasm from eating the jar of salsa I gave him, after making it from the maters and garlic he gave me. He threatened to clean the county out of 'maters, and forcing me to make industrial sized quantities.

Since I haven’t done a recipe in quite a while, I regale you now with mine…

VunderBob’s Kickass Firehouse Roasted Tomato Salsa

12 tomatos, bigger than a baseball
6 jalapeno peppers
12 large garlic cloves
1/4 cup chopped cilantro
2 medium onions
1/2 tsp cumin
2 tsp salt
1/4 cup vinegar

Core the tomatoes, cut the stems from the peppers and halve them, and peel the garlic cloves. If you don’t want the salsa to be real hot, now is the time to remove the inner membrane and seed from the pepper halves. Place all on a cooking sheet, and spray everything lightly with the cooking spray. Place sheet in the oven set to broil, and let go for 10-12 minutes, until the skin on the tomatoes chars and starts to peel. Keep an eye on the garlic, because it may burn first.

Peel the tomatoes, and chop them up the way you prefer. I’m lazy so I used a food processor, and I drained the liquid out of the chopped tomatoes to leave pulp only. Chop the peppers, garlic, onion, and cilantro, and add to tomatoes. Add salt and cumin, and adjust for taste. Add the vinegar, too. If you’re going to serve this fresh, stop here. Refrigerate about 2 hours before serving.

I canned mine via water bath. To do this, double the batch above, and prepare as directed, Place salsa in sterilized pint jars, add lids, and immerse completely in boiling water. Boil for 15 minutes, then remove. Let the jars cool, and the lids should indent. If the lid does not seal, refrigerate that jar immediately. The double batch yielded 6 pints.

Why is it Firehouse salsa? My batch wasn’t all that hot; instead, when I was starting the canning process, I was paged for an electrical fire…

And speaking of 'maters… we have liftoff!

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE!

The German greens look like they’ll need another week or two before they’re edible, but the Mr Stripeys and the Baby Yellow Pears both had ripe sweet tomatoes ready to eat when I got home today.

Hopefully we’ll have a decent enough crop this year to try that salsa, Vundy. It sounds good.

Survived another day of work. 366 days till the next NHL Booster Club convention. :smiley:

BBBobbio, I gotta try that salsa.

Yaya for Muppet tomatoes!

swampy, it’s one down, 5 to go for me.
