Conversations with kids - a thoughtful, giggle-induced (and highly parenthetical) MMP

Spent the day up in Pennsylvania after running my friend up there to see his girlfriend. Now I’m back home, crashed in the beanbag chair, watching TV. Not a super-productive day but at least I got out of the house.

Wait, wait, we squee over vegetables now? I’ll call my mother, that’s up her alley…

I don’t have a nickname cos my username is tiny, at a guess.

I think the way governments have gone about the crisis is, generally, pretty crapped up, specially given things like banks getting handouts which aren’t linked to helping people refinance, complaining that they’re “only making 230% more than last year” (1) and filing for “employee reduction under duress” (which means pinkslipped employees get UI but do not get the “one month per year worked” payment from the bank itself). At least the judge involved has already said he’s going to reject the duress thing, but of course the bank’s lawyers are already preparing the next level over. It can be years until those ex-employees get their money.

1 FinanceBro’s head almost arsploded when he heard that one from a bank CEO who sounded like he was in mourning, that same bank made 400% more than the previous year… last year, if that makes any sense.

Yes, you long time friends are getting the picture, my life is never going to slow down. I have resigned myself to some sort of drama every day at any time, but I am getting so much better at rolling with the blows that I haven’t let it get to me in months. My autoimmune stuff has taken over control, and a week in Anchorage eating restaurant food is gonna be rough, but immodium is my friend, and I’ll deal with the repercussions overall after I get the kids into school. Harley guy is not the 1% kind of biker guy, he owns a huge brick house in Tennessee on a huge lot, his Harley is a smooth ride, and it’s beautiful. One of my weight loss goals is to get on the back of a hog and go for a road trip.

Skiffman isn’t a bad guy, and we are trying to do this while retaining our friendship. There is no need for drama or hard feelings, so I hope that he is prepared to have me be with someone else.

In addition to all of that hoopla I have been out several times with Cat, picking berries, digging wildflowers and taking photos. My garden is kinda poopy this year, but I put in a bunch of perennials, and am making a bed for the raspberries. They are taking over, and I will lose this year’s crop, and probably next year’s, but after that I’ll have raspberries for most of the summer. I am going to move the rhubarb up here too, and I have plans to plant some currant and gooseberry bushes, and some blueberries. I need to check and see if trying to grow horseradish here would be an effort in futility.

I’m tahrd, and am contemplatin a very early bedtime. You guys are ,as always, the best. It’s nice to have a place to stick my head in the door and holler “Hey!” and you all holler back “Kai!”, it makes me feel special. hugs and kisses all around.

Hey, where is Mama Tigs? I saw the lapine blanc not too long ago, I hope things are okay.

How about Navaita? It’s a descriptive nickname of your user name!

Hey you, you know who you are…how you doin?

Happy
Husband
Day,
ems!

We could call you Fly (mosca). Spanish Fly… <snerk>

I suspect she’s too, er, busy to notice this right now!

As for a nickname, Nava means “beautiful” in Hebrew. I think we could run with that…

Yay!

HubbyTime is almost here…as I type this it is 6 hours and 46 mins until I pick him up from the airport!

Hubby made his connection in LAX! It was tight but he said he put on the puppy dog eyes and asked (aka flirted with) the nice airport lady who got him across the airport in in double quick time and got him to the head of the security line etc after he checked in with American. Whoohoo! The sourthen gent thing works on more than just me then!

:D:D:D:D:D:D

My parents (love them!) have booked us a nice hotel room for tonight

Yes bobbioI do remember what and how to do it…I think we might need to practice a little though just to make sure we are really doin’ it right!

And we are going out to the bestest local country pub/food place for dinner as well. I love vacation

This is me right now :D…time is going very slowly though…

Sorry for the smiley laiden post but I am just so very happy to see my hubby we are all in luuurrve ‘n’ stuff plus he is awesome to hang out with. And I miss him. A lot. But I am 9 months down in this assignment so hopefully only 6 months more of this!

I think MamaT is fine, kai, just really busy.

Glad hubby made his connection, mmmmmmmmmmm. How long is he going to be around? Glad the end of the long-distance thing is approaching, too.

I woke up really early, but at least I slept through the night! Might still fall asleep again, but I think I got more sleep last night than I’ve gotten any night in about a week.

Long day ahead, though. Have lots and lots to do at work.

Back later.

GT

Is that like a mosca cojonera?

Ah no, just a mosca verde… sorry, green definitely isn’t my color, it makes me look like I’ve got hepatitis.

Up, caffeinated, off to work.

Yay for hubby day, mmmmm!

Yes, yay for hubby day, mmmmmm!

Kai! Good to see you! We like it when you pop your head in here. Hang in there for all the ups and downs. Life can be such a roller coaster sometimes.

Purty maters, Muppet!

That salsa sounds awesome, VBob.

{{{Soapy}}} - don’t be lonesome!
I’m sorry if I’ve missed anything else - I had to skim. I’ve been busy at work, and I have to prepare my presentation this morning.

Oh - one last thing. Mr Rebo got the “official” phone call from his job, and he definitely has the job, and starts on Monday. Joy joy joy!!! He jokingly said, “Mondays suck.” I about smacked him upside the head! I told him he can’t say that until after New Year’s, if then.

I made fried chicken as a celebratory dinner - and it was awesome! (I only make it about twice a year.)

No. he problem is intermittent. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Maybe I need to download iTunes again- corrupted maybe?

Happy Hubby Day- ems, if you come up for air to read this!

Pretty tomatoes, muppet! (That sounded dirtier than it should…).

How old is your version of iTunes?
I bought the iPod Touch before upgrading the 'puter, thinking it would work with the old one. You need iTunes 8 (Mac) at least - not sure what you’d need for Windows

GT, I was just paging through the recipe blog, and noticed an error in my Neener Puddin’: the Jello Banana Pudding should be the Sugar Free kind.

Yes, it’s My mistake. Oh, and there’s an embedded SDMB quote button at the end, too.

Good Og. How can it possibly be time for ripped skinny jeans to be in style again??

I dunno, taxi, but I ain’t happy about it.

muppet, those maters are KEE-ute!!

rosie, do I recall you were going to have your lap band checked recently? How dey do dat??

I’m betting ems is NOT thinking about us right now.

Went for the results of my balance tests this morning and the doc confirmed what you guys already knew. There is something wrong with my brain. Now I have to have an MRI which will probably show nothing but it could show I have a brain tumor or a stroke. I have to call and schedule it. Yay!

Tupug

taxi, I’ve decided that this is where I draw the line and become a cranky fuddy-duddy who doesn’t understand them silly young folks and their ridiculous fashion sense. I’m going to stick with my dark rinse, wide leg trouser-cut jeans and that’s that.

Of course, nevermind that I didn’t grasp the point of the pre-ripped-jeans fad the first time around when I was a silly youngster dressed in funny-looking clothes…

ems, glad to see the countdown is finally at an end. Have fun catching up with each other.

{{puggy}} Sorry to hear that. Hopefully they will find something of the minor and easy to fix variety.

That’s all I got for now. Time to get back to work… bletch.

I’m glad skinny jeans are back. I look good in skinny jeans. These wide-leg jeans do nothing for me. As long as they don’t get so skinny that we need those silly ankle zippers back. But the ripped look? Yeah, that was bad the first time around. Is there really someone in the fashion world sitting in a conference room going “Remember back when ripped jeans were in? Wasn’t that great? Let’s do that again!”

{{Puggy}}

Puggy, first of all, it’s NOT going to be a brain tumor. And, even if it is, my mom had a brain tumor removed about 5 years ago and had no problems or complications whatsoever. Hang in there.

Did you know that it takes me longer to sit on the couch and agonize over having to do the dishes than it probably would take to do them in the first place?
