Cooper the Portugese Water Dog rates his favorite doggie treats

Hi Dopers, Cooper the Portie again, this time I wanted to bark about my favorite doggie treats, maybe give some other Doper Doggies ideas as to what to ask for…

Free treats…
Sticks!, I like apple tree sticks best, closely followed by sugar maple sticks, they’re crunchy, make fun noises when I break them, and there’s a never ending supply of them in the yard, Dad likes them 'cause they’re free

Store bought treats…

Milk Bone “scooby snack” biscuits; meh, they’re okay, nothing special, I pretend to like them because niece and nephew got them for me and I don’t want to hurt their feelings

Greenies; Blech! These are icky, how could anyone like them, I think they’re designed to trick humans into buying them thinking that we dogs like “healthy” treats, nope, Greenies are Grossy

Crumps Naturals freeze dried beef liver chunks; or as I call them, Puppy Crack! These are so nummy I could eat an entire bag all at once, but no, dad is stingy with them, I guess that makes them more special

Tricky Trainers salmon flavor nuggets; these are also nummy, and soft and chewy too, I don’t know which ones I like better, the Crumps liver treats, or the TTC’s, I know, BOTH!

…and my favorite of all doggie treats…
NutriSea Sea Jerky sticks, these are super, super nummy, and I wish I could eat an entire bag, but Dad only gives me one a day, I practically do backflips of joy when I see that bag in his hand, I can easily get about two to three feet in the air jumping with joy, these are the tastiest dog treats I ever had, they’re made with a mix of beef and sea cucumber, and they’re just awesomely good, plus, they’re made right here in Maine, Dad sent the company a nice letter telling them how much I liked them, and the nice owner lady wrote back the next day, thanking him for the nice letter, and even better, sending me a FREE BAG of the nummy Sea Jerky, he wrote the letter last night, the owner lady responded this morning, and the package is already on the way, should be here tomorrow, my first very own mail package, I’m excited!

And the best stuff, the stuff I’d KILL for? (Well not really kill, but you get my meaning), it’s the sausage treats they sell at a local sporting goods store, it’s made for humans, but Dad shares it with me, one of them is made with venison (deer meat), and the other is made with alligator meat (tastes like chicken, actually)

Dad told me that he will only feed me the good jerky treats that are made here in the USA, because some jerky treats from China have been making dogs and cats very sick and some have even died due to contaminants in the treats, why would these companies do such mean things to us?

Dad’s promised me that no pet product made in China will ever be brought into our home, no jerky treats, cookies, food, or toys, he says the only Chinese stuff I could eat is Chinese food from the local restaurants that is made for human consumption anyway and has to conform to USDA standards…

Hey Coop,

Nice to have you back. Tell Mac that you want some “Pigs Ears” and the Capt said that you NEEDED some scritches from him and Mac was to do the work.

Pics?

Capt Kirk

my iCloud page, Dad adds pics to it whenever he takes ones he considers good enough

Be careful with pig ears. Mine loved them, but I got some that must have gone rancid according to the vet, bloody diarrhea is no fun for anyone, and can be life threatening. Greenies are also bad. I love the other suggestions though, thank you Cooper!

Cooper - I have the best recipe for homemade liver dog treats if you think Mac can manage. I call them incredibly stinky dog treats, AKA Dog brownies. Let me know if you want Mac to make them for you. The kitties might like them, too.

My package arrived, Dad said it was heavy, and inside the package, the nice lady sent me THREE bags of treats, the sea cucumber, salmon and sweet potato treats I already like, a bag of the sea cucumber, beef, and rice treats, and a bag of Sea Bones to keep my teeth shiny and clean

I tried one of each, and like them all, the bones were a little strange at first, but tasty and crunchy

And yes, StGermain, I’d like your recipe too
