I literally tuned into this game five minutes ago. Ecuador had a good chance in the 89th minute then a goal in the 91st. Then two other decent chances. I’m quite surprised, but Argentina will probably prevail. If they can make it to extra time.
But the Fox announcers say it goes straight to shootout. Even still…
Caicedo should have scored the winner off a free header from 8 yards.

When’s the last time Argentina lost a penalty shootout?
They lost the 2016 Copa Finals in PKs, with a Messi miss in that one too. That was a big part of the reason Messi being a choker was a meme for a bit.
Oh, yes. I recall. Losing twice to Chile in PKs in almost identical fashion.
Well, what can I say, Ecuador played better and deserved to win.
But we have a Dibu.
This kind of playing will not do if we want to win this cup, not against Colombia, Uruguay or Brazil.
Canada playing somewhat better than Venezuela in the first half. Solid defence, a surprising goal, could easily be up 3-0 instead of leading by one. Had as many shots in the first 30 minutes as they got in the first three 90, minute games, which bodes well.
Shaffelberg playing well, amazing run to score a goal, getting pushed around a bit. David some good runs but could have easily scored.
Man that was not a good look for Canada.
My Venezuelan neighbors are screaming, so something must’ve happened. But google says it’s still 1- 0.

Embarrassing defensive lapse by Crépeau who has otherwise played decently. Canada passing well, could easily have had three goals if they didn’t shoot like they had ear infections. Playing generally better than Venezuela, a decent team that beat Ecuador and Mexico and actually knows how to score goals.
Enough whining about the ref. Let’s win this shootout!
