Driving west from Boston yesterday around 10:30 am, we encountered two separate gigantic groups of police cars heading east - blue lights on, generally in a line, no sirens and traveling at a reasonable rate of speed (i.e. not in hot pursuit). As we came upon the second group, we noticed an officer on foot at the end of an entrance ramp, holding off traffic that was entering the pike. I looked all over the web and found no info - was this a memorial procession or a motorcade for a visiting dignitary or something?
Maybe that Kerry fellow?
It looks like the date on that story is June 1 (hard to tell as I’m on my phone). If that’s so, then probably not, but please correct me if I’m wrong. I don’t think we saw an ambulance involved either.
From the Worcester Telegram, “State and local officials detonated materials believed to be explosives Saturday afternoon when a contractor happened upon suspicious items in the basement of a home.”
So perhaps they were going to or coming from this home?
I don’t have an answer. I’m just posting to share that my mom used to say there should be a phone line (and later a web site) where, without tying up needed personnel, you could find out why 13 cruisers flew up your street with lights and sirens … or whatever you saw.
Apparently, Massachusetts police organize an annual convoy to support Special Olympics. That, probably?
We have a winner!
(Though not just in Mass). Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics was yesterday in Mass.
Cool, thanks! It was so odd to see dozens of cop cars in a group like that with no apparent crisis or event.
The “HOT” light was just turned on at Krispy Kreme! :o
