Coronavirus COVID-19 (2019-nCoV) Thread - 2020 Breaking News

My friend left Ohio today for the 311 concert/festival in Vegas. He’s a healthy young dude but now he’s going to bring it back here.

I have employees all over the world who cannot get back. I have employees in the Kingdom who live in towns that are shut off. They cannot come to work. I have people scheduled to fly out on vacation tonight. We will find out if they can go. We got people who are cut off from their families in nearby Bahrain. I am scheduled to retire at the end of the month. I may be trapped here.
Swell times.

He is already getting sued and multi-cease-and-desisted.

DJT and Pence met and posed for pictures with Fabio Wajngarten, the Brazilian communications secretary this past Saturday during his visit at Mar a Lago.

Wajngarten has been tested for COVID-19 because he was showing symptoms and is waiting for results to see is he tests positive.

3 new cases in my state yesterday. Victoria, Australia. All from the USA.

You guys really let the side down.

Trump is going to defer taxes for certain impacted individuals. Hmmmm. I wonder if those people are wealthy? His friends? His donors?

A Utah Jazz basketball player is said to have tested positive. The NBA has decided to put the season on hiatus to see what happens. Not a bad idea, the responsible thing, but may well turn out to be overblown. I suspect other leagues will follow.

North Carolina has 10.5 million people and 250 tests left.

Got real for us today.

Employer contacted son and told him he has been in close contact with a co-worker who tested positive.

Famed sex club Snctm is going forward with its previously scheduled orgies in New York and LA.

I went to my orthopedic follow up yesterday, also located in a hospital in New Hampshire. I passed by signs for another entrance - the purpose of which I’ve never figured out despite parking in the same lot during each of my dad’s hospitalizations there - saying due to concerns about Covid-19 the entrance was closed and to use another one… It’s not marked but I have seen older patients coming out and some catching dial-a-ride type vans, so maybe it’s a geriatric medicine office? Hmm. Nothing unusual was going on inside the hospital, though. Not even as sign asking people who were ill to use a mask like urgent care has for years.

The receptionist did ask if I’d traveled out of the country in the past 30 days, however. Seems to me that asking if I’ve been to Boston (yes, two weeks ago) or New York (not since last September, fortunately) in the past few weeks would’ve been more logical given the proximity and number of cases.

Well, you come home after being out for a couple hours at a election forum for candidates and all sorts of stuff happens.

As I’m processing all this info, I can’t quite quickly google up an answer to: what is the reason the UK is exempt from this travel ban?

Cynical me guesses “because Trump likes Boris Johnson and Brexit.”

The same player who two days ago was mocking the NBA’s precautions and touched every microphone in the press conference.

7-11 owner in New Jersey arrested for selling his home brew hand sanitizer that burned kids.

126,367 confirmed infections
4,633 dead
68,304 recovered

In the US:

1,327 confirmed infections
38 dead
15 recovered

I started this thread 29 days ago when the death toll had just passed 1000 and posted the first set of numbers the following day:

At that time, there were zero confirmed infections within the US.

Look at this chart:
https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

As you can see the UK has substantially fewer cases than Italy, Spain, France, Germany.
And look at the last column: cases per million population and sort that highest at the top.

Well, my family is Polish. And Poland is rather low on the list not matter how you slice it. And yet they’re banned. But the UK is not? This doesn’t quite explain it to me. Portugal, both per capita and in number of cases is lower than the UK. Banned too. Ireland? Marginally higher than the UK, per capita, lower in number of cases, but banned.

It just doesn’t quite make sense to me.

Coronavirus Conference Gets Canceled Because of Coronavirus

Clay Bentley, quarantined in a GA hospital with COVID-19 is interviewed by CNN. 11 minute video includes interview and a video Mr. Bentley shot and posted online 9 March for the first 5 minutes and interview segments alternating between Mr. Bentley and Dr. Carlos Del Rio, an infectious disease specialist, for the last 6 minutes or so.

I hope that Mr. Bentley enjoys a full recovery. He does not look or sound good in any of the video but he says he thinks he has turned the corner; I hope he is correct.
