Costco has Hand Sanitizer

As of an hour ago, Costco in Clarkston Washington (on Idaho border) has a huge stock of hand sanitizer.

32 oz. bottle $9.99

also 32 oz bottle of same stuff in thinner mix for spray bottle. Same price.

Limit one each per customer.

Road trip!

They have piles of them in the stores around here nowadays. Have a feeling they are going to be giving them away in a couple months.

Where are you? Here in eastern WA / western Idaho (80 miles from the nearest big city) I haven’t seen a single one in months, until today.

A lot of the Ace Hardware stores around here have stacks of gallon jugs of sanitizer from re-purposed distilleries. The name brand stuff like Purell remains practically impossible to find, but alcohol is alcohol.

Apparently, I did learn some useful facts in college!

Here in PA there is hand sanitizer out the wazoo. You can have your pick of different brands, consistencies, etc.

I’d rather get it out of a pump dispenser if you don’t mind.

Ottawa, Ontario. They were totally sold out everywhere for about a month and a half but about a week or so ago I started seeing them in the corner stores.

I just wanted to say I don’t see the point of dumping on the OP because there are “piles of [hand sanitizer]” or they are “coming out the wazoo” where you are. Good for you, but in a great many places, including around here, hand sanitizer is very difficult to find. I have a large supply of the Purell-like gel kind only because most of it was ordered online, and that particular source doesn’t even have it any more. OP was just trying to be helpful. Meanwhile over in ATMB somebody is complaining about the wording of the Quarantine thread description. I honestly think the quarantine hunkering-down thing is getting on people’s nerves. Do what I do – have some rum, vodka, or a vat of red wine.

Thank you.

I don’t read any comments here that way. People are just commenting on how rare the stuff is in their area, same as the OP. When I say that it’s not too hard to find at least those little spray bottles here (but more difficult to find the gel), I know I’m not intending to say anything bad about the OP.

I have to wonder why it’s so unevenly distributed. Around here, I get it, because we’re pretty rural, and so just have less people buy stuff. Heck, my doctor’s office was still giving out masks throughout the whole thing, simply because they had more than enough for the level of patients they get. The only change was that they didn’t just leave them out front in the waiting room for anyone to grab. (Well, that and because the waiting room was closed–you wait in your car now to avoid spread.)

I do note that it’s surprising how long one bottle lasts. We got one a month ago and, despite multiple uses everyday by three people, it’s still like 4/5s full (rubbed on our hands like we wash them now). Maybe that factors in–once people get some, they find they don’t need a huge amount. I use a lot more ammonia wipes (Clorox, Lysol) and bleach or hydrogen peroxide sprays. I wish liquid soap lasted nearly as long.

How about the Kirkland disinfecting wipes?

I happened into a CVS yesterday and they were well stocked with different hand sanitizers. Spray, foam, and gel types. Prices didn’t seem out of line either.

I certainly wasn’t piling on the OP. I honestly just noticed there’s a lot of hand sanitizer around now. I frankly never saw it in corner stores before. $10 for an 8 oz bottle.

There isn’t much around here (Brooklyn, NY).

Once in a while I’ll see some in a store in the neighborhood, and I’ll grab it. It tends to go fast (even with one-per-customer limits).

Also in short supply – alcohol (like rubbing alcohol). I hadn’t seen any in ages, then some popped up at a local drugstore. It was all gone the same day.

There’s one hardware store that has (sometimes) masks, surgical masks and KN-95 masks.

What can’t be found anywhere are Clorox wipes (or other brands of the same thing). I wish I could find some, but they haven’t been seen around here in months.

OP here. On Friday I did read your remarks as being dismissive and smartassy.
Today I understand that wasn’t what you were conveying. That’s the problem with speech in print- the absence of inflection, tone of voice, and facial expression can lead to misinterpretation.

Although I appreciated Wolfpup’s comment (enough to thank him for it), I now see your comments as simple matter-of-fact statements.

Go in peace. (Wash your hands first).

amazon has plenty as of last week.

I purchase supplies for a lab that processes COVID samples. I think we have sourced just about everything now except disinfectant wipes (although I heard a rumor they’ve been spotted at Publix recently) and surgical smocks. I did find some surgical smocks, but the company required a minimum purchase amount which would have cost over $45,000.

Didn’t see any at my Costco here in Ohio on Saturday.

Apparently the name brand ones get put out in local stores but they’re gone as soon as they go up.

If anyone has a Bath & Body Works near them, they have their hand sanitizer back in stock. Regular price of 5/$8, limit of 10. Not too many scents to choose from but they’re great for carrying around and keeping in your car. They’ve also started putting some online(I recommend the Eucalyptus. It’s awesome!)
