Costco sells 6,000,000 pumpkin pies

But have you seen their pumpkin pies? They’re ginormous. I could not have bought a similar quality pie anywhere near that size for $5.99 in 1990, fresh or frozen.

It’s really hard to beat a Costco pie. They’re huge, very good quality and super-reasonably priced. I rarely buy them for much the same reason as others - they’re HUGE. But I am a big fan of the apple pie, which has a heavy hand with the cinnamon.

I picked up two much fancier pies from two separate establishments for Thanksgiving with the family (just worked out that way). One was $28 (amaretto pumpkin), the other $46 (cranberry orange streusel). They were quite good pies - I don’t regret buying them for a special occasion. Were they worth the premium relative to a Costco pie? Not really. Would I buy them again? Probably not.

Most supermarket pies are pretty much crap. Costco is head and shoulders better, while being remarkably cheap. I don’t love shopping at Costco due to the crowds and parking, but they get an awful lot of things right.

Yeah, that’s the thing about Costco, nobody goes there any more. It’s too crowded.

Yes, but if people didn’t want so many pumpkin pies, that have to get them someplace else.
