I bought it once. I found it to be basically bland versions of basic beer styles.
It would make a good starter pack for someone venturing beyond the typical American piss-water.
I was just at Costco this morning! Sadly I forgot to put their frozen Three Berries mix on my list (part of my standard breakfast). I bought:
-Kleenex (the good stuff that doesn’t shred when I accidentally put one through the wash…which happens often)
-Shredded Mexican Blend Cheese
-Organic Milk
-Pork tenderloin
-Greek yogurt
I buy the rotisserie chicken quite often. So tasty and a terrific deal.
We are currently living on the opposite coast for 4 months and sadly the Costco here does not carry the 80-ct packages of corn tortillas. I did notice packages of Einstein Bros. bagels though, I may have to pick some up next time I’m there. We’ve found out that the kids really like proper east coast bagels.
It’s fine. Not my first choice but I’ll get it if they don’t currently have anything exciting. But they have 4 flavors that haven’t been changed in awhile, and I don’t think you need exactly half the beers to be either pale ale or India pale ale.
We do our normal food shopping at a regular grocery store, but almost always go to Costco for:
Dog food. We buy their grain-free salmon and sweet potato kind (one dog has allergies, easier to feel both the same thing), and it’s much cheaper than similar food at a pet store. Like, half the price.
Vitamins and OTC Medicines. Multivitamins, flax seed oil, generic Zyrtec, etc. All way cheaper and in conveniently huge bottles.
Chicken. Their vacuum-pack chicken thighs and breasts are a great deal, and freeze well.
Clothing. Occasionally I will be in there and see that they have slacks or khakis at a ridiculous price, and I’ll buy three or four pairs.
Gasoline. No matter how packed the store is, the fuel lines always move fast. And saving a few cents a gallon while at the same time racking up rewards that make next year’s membership free is a no-brainer.
Tires. If they have your kind, the prices are unbeatable and the guarantee is great.
Things I do not get at Costco:
Prescription medicines. After a few years of dealing with understaffed, overwhelmed pharmacy staff, milling around the pharmacy counter like a schmuck for the refill that was supposed to be done half an hour ago, we decided it just wasn’t worth the savings.
