We could set a time and server (I’d be willing to host it) to have a Dopefest a la Counter-Strike. I know it’s a popular game, so there must be many players here. Since I don’t live in a major area, there’s not much chance of me getting to actually meet any dopers IRL. This might be a cool alternative. Also, it’d be a chance for some of us more mature and casual players to have a little fun as opposed to playing with snotty 14 yr old boys living at home* on the internet. Anyone have any thoughts? If anyone’s interested, please respond here. Of course with timezones it might be difficult to set a time, but it should be possible.

Alright. There’s at least four of us. What say we wait just a bit to see is anyone else wants to join in. Seems that at least 3 of us are in Cali, so that’s promising. Any ideas on the best way to do this?

bouv, I was intending to host only because I’m kind of coordinating this thing. (it’d be kinda sucky to see the person who is hosting never show up for the game). However, we should try to maximize our performance. I think, ideally, it’d be nice to have a dedicated server (someone with 2 computer ((and 2 cdkeys)) ). I’ve got a free 1 GHZ laptop that might be able to do the job, but only 1 CDkey. My intention was to host on my 2GHz P4 with 640 DDR. If your comp beats that, it’d probably be best for you to host (I assume our cable conntections are comparable)

Spit, yeah I don’t see why this couldn’t be a semi-regular thing if it works out well. I’m really starting to hate public servers, so I’m really down for this. This thread would be the best place for updates unless you want me to send you email.
