Covering the anti Trump protests

The Trumpsters are all sad because, you know, the celebs all loved the Clintons and the Obamas. Remember what it was like to go in the cafeteria and you knew you’d never be invited to sit at the cool kids’ table. That’s what Donnie’s going through now. He’s officially the Big Cheeto and the cool kids STILL don’t like him. In fact, I can’t figure out what kids DO like him… the Chess Club? the ROTC? the frat boys? the science nerds? the Trekkers? the jocks? the band kids? the bikers? I think he has to eat at a table by himself. Sad.

Damn, if the mainstream media is going to start appending these little reality checks to remarks made by politicians as a general practice, I’m going to have to read them more regularly.

If remarks made on today’s news shows are any indication, there’s a general “mainstream media” unwillingness to simply roll over and play dead when Trump and his people lie as blatantly as Spicer did in that White House briefing.

Some are suggesting that the networks and cable shows stop carrying Trump speeches live–but instead, tape them then run them with annotations explaining the actual facts.

Trump’s fans would howl, but then they pretty much howl all the time anyway.

No coup will be necessary. These protests will destroy Trump, one chip at a time. A narcissist won’t accept that he’s not loved by his countrymen. Look at all the effort Trump has already invested in the “it was a uuuuge crowd” inauguration controversy. He clearly can’t accept being second to anyone, or being wrong.

Our savior in this mess will be a dedicated media willing to tell it like it is. Let Trump spend 4 years fighting the media. Less time to hurt the country.

The downside to this is that while the public enjoys the entertaining spectacle of Trump and the media squabbling over his stupid self-glorification and obvious lies, his administration and Congress will pursue a lot of destructive policies with diminished media scrutiny.

Let’s call out Trump’s silly PR falsifications but also pay attention, and call attention, to serious policy issues that are going to have vastly more impact overall.

How will you act when he does something right? Say if more jobs are created?

You know, people tend to vote with their pocketbooks over what celebrities think and if the economy is doing well, he could get relected easily just like Bill Clinton did.

Plus it wont help if the left keeps looking like a bunch of idiots.

Snap.

How many jobs, and what kind of jobs, are we talking about? If Trump really endorses an economic policy that’s beneficial for American workers overall, and produces good, economically and environmentally sustainable jobs in the necessary quantities to help revitalize our struggling communities, I’ll say, “Thanks, President Trump!”

On the other hand, if he’s trying to spin the essentially cosmetic creation of a few hundred or a few thousand manufacturing jobs as a yuuuuuge accomplishment, when a healthy economy on average grows by tens or hundreds of thousands of jobs a month anyway, I’ll point that out.

I, for one, will enjoy riding my new unicorn to work everyday.

The constant pressure on Trump is working, a report in the NY Times and a report in the Post both detail that Trump is obsessing over the negative coverage and lashing out while his staff fight amongst themselves for position. Not only that, but his press secretary admitted yesterday that the constant criticism of Trump is “demoralizing.” He is three days into his presidency and he is demoralized and lashing out. Now, we have the Pope warning of the rise of new Hitlers and I am so hoping we can bait Trump into lashing out at the Pope.

The link below looks links to both stories and puts them in some context.

I, for one, am totally impressed with how our liberal media operation smothered any mention of the rampant violence that burned across our nation. Emergency rooms flooded with gunshot wounds and drug overdoses, banks and churches blazing, cannibalism and Satanic sacrifices. Well, I admit I didn’t personally witness any of that, but this is Minnesota, so we have a kinda NPR version of mayhem and carnage. But Washington, DC? Doubt any boat can get down the Potomac what with all the bodies floating downriver to the sea. Probably walk across on the corpses, not even get your shoes wet!

And our valiant liberal media suppressed it all! Way to go, guys!
